I started Cherrios at 7 months with my second, 5 mo with my first. they really do melt in the mouth so there is little to know worry about chocking. Also, when they first start, it is rare they would actually make it into their mouth 🙂 They are recommended to help with cordination.

  • OMG!! Bean – I wouldn’t let you MIL around any children! That was some of the most inappropriate things i have ever heard. To me that is sexual abuse! I can’t believe that. As soon as i saw her trying to bf my child i would have packed everything and left that minute, taking my children and NEVER returning. To see her hugging you child naked…[Read more]

  • star – i am not sure if it is a state thing or a federal but here (VA) you have to sign a form at admission that says ‘yes tell people i am here and pass calls through to me’ or ‘No, do not give ANY info out’. Any includes even the knowledge that you are in the hospital. As for the nursery. In my hospital nobody is allowed in the nursery. The…[Read more]

  • mama – it def sounds like the wrong size nipple shield. If you have medela, they can help you figure out the correct size for you if you just call the 800 help line. Also, for the 4 months i pumped at work, i would always get a LOT more from one breast vs the other. good luck to you.

Black – Are you eating something that might be upsetting your baby’s tummy? When i bf my first son he was allergic to dairy and every time i fed him he would get sick. If i gave him formula he would be ok. If it is reflux that your baby has, formula is heavier and stays down easier than breast milk. My friend’s baby had reflux and she had to…[Read more]

Kym – the only reason i said to pump after feeding is to trigger your body to make more milk. Also, when i said increase pumping, i didn’t necessarally mean at work. When i had to pump the 15 to 20 oz my son was eating at daycare i would pump through the whole day. I would pump when i woke up then feed my son, then i would pump 2 times at work,…[Read more]

Cutie – I found that if i squeezed my breast or massage my breast while pumping and i could get a few extra drops but that was about it.

Dee – I am weening my son now too. We are doing just one feeding a day. He wakes and nurses and then the rest of the day he is just on milk (he is 15 mo old). We have been doing that for a few weeks now. As far as i know i still have some milk in there. hehe. He seems satisfied when he stops. I will keep feeding in the AM only for a while…[Read more]

Oh sam – You make me feel better. i thought i was the only one who did this. I found out by mistake that it works. I had nothing else to use at the time and used that. It worked great! Bri – I am jealous that you have made it over a year without a stain! I think i made it a week! haha.

Gemma – It only takes 24 to 48 hours to clear BUT if you are not careful and steralizing everything that touches your babies mouth it will be re-infected and you will have to start over again. Good Luck i know it stinks!

3rd – I took antibiotics when Jake was about 4 months old and they him gassy and gave him a bit of diaharrea. But otherwise he was fine. Hope you feel better soon!

From my understanding they will hold onto it for an hour after the baby’s lip touch the bottle nipple. For fear of bacteria issues. I would ask them to either have them only put 2 oz in a bottle at a time that wya if they do discard the milk, it is just a tiny bit or none.

sarah – My docs gave me the all clear to have the salon do it while pregnant, so i am assuming that it should be fine bf.

thor – I HATED the swing pump. It barely worked if at all. I returned it! I love my medela double breast pump but the swing was just awful. You would be better off with a hand pump!

imso – I know it seems like it will last forever, it won’t. Then when your LO is feeding farther apart, you will miss your time witht hem. hehe. My son fed every 3 hours (start to start) until he was 10 months old. But only during the day. At night he would eat at 7pm and then not again until 7am starting at around 7 months. Though he would…[Read more]

Black – Check your babies mouth and see if there is white in her mouth. That would be the first sign of thrush in your baby. Other than the pain i am not sure how to identify Thrush on you. I used a nipple shield ($5 at Target) to help not get the thrush myself. I would definately go see your doc or the ped to see what it could be. Good…[Read more]

Lizzie – From my experience it is easier to watch other children and breastfeed than it is to bottle feed. Exp as your child gets older. As your child gets older she will eat all she needs in far less time than it takes her now. My 13 month old will eat 6 to 9 oz in 10 minutes. It is far easier to place him to the breast while taking a 5…[Read more]

Prego – With Thrush you need to make sure you are washing EVERYTHING that touches your babies mouth every single time he takes it out of his mouth, including you! Thrush is VERY VERY contaigous and can be passed easily. With that said just b/c your son has it doesn’t mean you do. But you can take some of his medicine and rub it on your nipples…[Read more]
