skjunior – regarding sippies…..I don’t remember when my 2nd daughter started using a sippy, but I definately remember that she would drink from a straw l-o-n-g before she would take a sippy, so if your little one won’t take a sippy then try a straw…..my daughter also wouldn’t eat solids until she was a year old –

  • Hi ladies – I’m active on the site but rarely visit this forum; makes me face the fact that I’m AMA LOL. I will be 39 next month and my 4th baby is due in September. I’ve never had any testing done (I was AMA with my last baby also) My doctor’s opinion is that there is no point in having the testing if I’m not willing to terminate – which I’m…[Read more]

mythreebears – sounds like you do have enough milk…. I am also one to not want to use a soother, but my third baby has changed my mind! He will nurse all the time if I let him – and I do from time to time….but, to save my own sanity I began using a soother and I am so glad I did! As you know, do keep nursing often especially during growth…[Read more]

Bri – you’re right, sorry I didn’t clarify that….I did mean that it is okay IF the baby is gaining…..there are the occasional babies that do not wake up, fuss, or cry when they need to eat – I have such a baby right now. He was 7 lbs when born and lost down to 5 lbs. 14 oz.; a 1 lb. 2 oz loss….I knew he wasn’t eating well but he was happy…[Read more]

I’m a germaphobe when it comes to my little baby – so hubby is off limits when it comes to the boobs. I can’t stand the thought of him getting germs on them and making baby sick!

This is what I do for a plugged duct – I actually got this out of a breastfeeding book – Once the plug develops the white dot on your nipple, get a STERILE needle (I use lancets like you would use to prick your finger for a glucose reading) and prick the top of the white dot. Your breast will still remain sore for a day or so but gets better at…[Read more]

Also, if you have trouble getting the shield to stay on, put a bit of lanolin under the edges of the shield

Crystal907 – I had to use a nipple shield to breastfeed because of flat nipples. I didn’t try to wean her off the shield until my nipples would stay out after taking the shield off. At that point, I would start a feeding with the shield and after several minutes of nursing I would take the shield off and let her try to latch on. Eventually she…[Read more]

I have a poop question! Some of my EBF baby’s poop is soupy…lots looser than normal breastfed baby poop. Baby is 3 months and teething, so LOTS of slobber…do you think that is causing the poop change or would it more likely be something else? It is not soupy all the time but seems to be increasingly so.

Anyone ever had to use a syringe to feed baby? My baby will latch but not suck….I’ve noticed the last couple of days that he is using his tongue differently when drinking from the syringe…He pretty much didn’t move his tongue at all when we first started syringe feeding and it never protruded out to his bottom lip. Now he moves it in and out…[Read more]

jude-v My baby was slow to gain also. He lost down to 5lbs. 14 oz. (was born at 7 lbs) and he was a very content fellow, so I was shocked at his weight loss! So, some really young babies are just content no matter what! We had latching issues so I had to pump for a couple of weeks. Once he started nursing I had to nurse more often to up the…[Read more]

I was told that green poop is caused by what the mother eats…not an allergy….just a normal change of color.
