I need some help, please. We have decided to have another baby. Our daughter is 28 months. I had a great pregnancy with her, no complications. I weighed 206 when I got pregnant and when I had her I weighed 233. I had gained a total of 27lbs with her. I now weigh 240, I`m wanting to lose weight before I get pregnant. I`m afraid of all the complications that I could have. I`m walking 1-2 miles in the morning before I go to work and 1-2 miles in the evening. I`ve been taking Alli, but haven`t seen any results. I`m watching what I eat, I drink more water and I`m trying to not to drink soda. I`ve been doing this for awhile now. I haven`t seen any results yet, except I lost 5lbs but gained it right back. If you have any suggestions on what else I can do, please help me. My goal is to lose 40lbs.
I would try Weight Watchers, I know a lot of people that have done it and it works for them. You have to have willpower in your eating. I know thats my biggest struggle. You exercising is great for you. Don’t do too much and burn yourself out. Giving up pop is a huge thing, so if you can do that you should melt off the weight. Good Luck.
Weight watchers is the way to go. I gained A LOT during my pregnancy..at my 6 week pp check up I was at 175 and was so sick of it I decided to join weight watchers. I lost weight very quickly its now 10 months later and I weigh around 125. They show you healthy ways to eat and you can still eat the same things you do now. I would recommend weight watchers to anyone as I lost so much and I know so many people who also have. Good luck!
How about some light work outs at home or the gym? I am pretty certain most of those dietary aides/ pills etc..only work if you maintain a good helathy diet as well as working out. You may lose the weight without it but chances are you will gain it right back with no excercise. Eat 6 small meals a day rather than big ones that make you super full. This keeps your metabolism in check and able to digest quicker rather than being “sluggish”. They say a whole meal should be able to fit in the palm of your hand..(6x a day). This was the advice given by some of the dieticians I worked for…of course there was more to it based on the history of the patient..but healthy eating is a very good start.
hi,i dont know about taking ali if you are trying to get pregnant,i would come off of that and just try to watch your weight and still walk in the moring eveing like you do and still drink water,i to and not thin,i lost about 10 pounds before i just got pregnant and i drink 10 glasses of water a day,i have had 2 etopics in 08,tube removed and 1 miscarry in jan 09,i am determined to keep this baby,i drink no caffinee now only water ,juice, choc milk,i sleep when i can with my 2 yr when i say him for nap,i was told before you have more wieght you are not required to gain alot to be with because baby takes that so just be patient i thougth i would never happen and it did ,how long have you been trying and how old are you if i may know, just try to be calm and it will happen hope this helps
i did weight watchers, like a year after giving birth to my son, and if you stick to the program it really really works. it’s kinda pricey, but i think it’s worth it. i’m 5ft 1in and went from 167 to 134 when i stopped, and after that i went down to 125 before getting pregnant again. it takes some time, but it can be really motivating having people help you through it.
I want to thank all of you for your suggestions. It’s been great help. To answer jastinel’s questions, I went off birth control about 3 months ago, I’ve been dieting and exercising since January of this year and I’m 23. I just at least want to be at a better weight to get pregnant than I am now. Again thanks to all of you!!
i dont believe in any of those “diet” pills, just good old- burning off more than you eat! sounds like you are doing great with the exercise, ditch the soda altogether, even diet, i think it make me feel more hungry! watch out for the “hidden” sugar if you are having too much fruit and fruit juice that can add calories. dont get me wrong, fruit is great! i just mean too much. veggies, water and lean protein are your best friend right now. i also think that whole grains like oats and brown rice are great to fill you up and keep you feeling full, just dont have too much! oh, and take a good multivitamin. if you cant spend the money on weight watchers, there are free sites out there to get support from.
i was on medifast for a week before i found out about my surprise baby, i lost 5 pounds that week and i like u exercised like crazy ate very strict amounts of healthy food and drank nothing but tons of water(key to losing weight drink 75% of your body weight in ounces of water) medifast is the only thing that worked for me, not fun at all, but i can tell you im so sad im not down to my old weight before baby is here, not only for health reasons i dont want to take pics of me at all and i know ill be sad i cant remember this later. p.s.. even though it is a very low calorie diet, i am proof you can get pregnant on it, like my doc said starving people in Ethiopia get pregnant(not to say you should starve yourself at all) good luck to you
Yep, the only way to lose weight is to burn off more calories then you eat. The problem with diet pills, or those shakes etc is that as soon as you come off them, you put the weight straight back on! Weight Watchers is AWESOME! They give you great support and receipes and your family can eat the same as you, there’s nothing worse than having to make seperate dinners for your partner/family! My own problem isn’t what I eat, as I eat quite healthily, it’s how much I eat. I know I eat too much, and even eating too much fruit is putting extra calories into your body that you don’t burn. Good luck with the weight, and good luck with the next pregnancy!
i took off about 85lbs in a short amount of time, however, i didnt do it all the right way. one of the biggest things is to cut soda out completely. dont even buy it. its the worst thing for you. just by cutting out soda i loose weight. all i drank was water. also i ate 6 times a day, but only ate small portions. a friend of mine used weight watchers and has taken off a huge amount of weight in only six months. but the key is drink only water lots of water. noooo soda! besides soda is horrible for your teeth as well, and if its cafinated soda, its not good to drink when trying to have a baby and while pregnant. since you are already excersising that is good, but excersise alone wont work if you dont eat healthy. your body needs energy to burn the calories. good luck to you!!!!!
I’m overweight and pregnant with number three, I’m my heaviest with this one since it’s so close after giving birth with my second. I havent had any issues, but I’m just overweight, not obese. Keep walking, that is awesome, what works wonders for me is totally cutting out sugar (or salty goodies depending if you have a salty or a sweet tooth). Drinking tons of water fills you up in between meals and also helps weightloss. Anywho that’s what has worked for me
There is a medicine that doctors perscribe for weight loss called phentermine, I have taken it a few times, and plan on taking it again after this baby is born. It works wonders!! it gives you energy too! I have known about 7 other people who have taken it, and it has worked for them also. On an average I lost 5 pounds a week, I would check into it if I were you!! good luck hun!

I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve and given a 2% chance to conceive naturally. i decided to lose weight before paying for treatments (iui/ivf) to have best possible odds. I went on the atkins diet and lost 40 lbs in 3 months. we tried to conceive naturally after i lost the weight and fell pregnant the 1st month! the best thing I ever did was lose weight even though it was hard at times 😁 I know the atkins diet is very strict but I highly recommend it.
