Ozbaby and anyone else who is interested: this is Dr Jack Newman’s handout of the use of domperidone (motilium). It goes over the dosage that Tove was speaking about http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/Dom19abcombinedpdf.pdfApril 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6910720
Eclairesmom- Bri is right. I have had mastitis twice. Warm, moist compresses are great while pumping or between feedings. The last time I had mastitis I noticed some tingling pain in my breast for a day or two. Then I felt extreme fatigue, was light-headed, and had a horrible migraine for 12 hours. Then the fever developed, at which point I examined my breast (since I didn’t have any other flu-like symptoms besides aches and fever) and saw the red streaks. Call the doctor right away if any of those symptoms develop! The red streaks on the breast usually indicating mastitis aren’t always the first symptom!April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6910976
i use the pump-n-style as well and totally love it. i take it with me when i’m teaching and pump on prep and lunch. i also pump for at least 10 min after feeding my son to get that last 1-3 ounces out and trick my body into thinking it need more by pumping for 5 min after the last drop. i already have about 25 5oz bags frozen for when i go back to work full time and he’s at daycare!April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6911232

18andpregnant- I would think it would be out of your system by now but I wouldn’t drink anymore as the high dose in caffeine can lower your milk supply and with your LO being so little you don’t want to hurt your supply. Caffeine is usually the culprit for gas, and reflux and a baby that won’t sleep. I don’t think there is anything that would really really hurt baby only having half one day and half the other but I would stay away from it for awhile.April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6911744

arose28 I have heard that using breastmilk instead of saline helps alot more and clears it up faster. We haven’t had a cold so I can’t speak from experience but I have used it for conjunctivitis and it works great.April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6912256
Hey ladies, I’m hoping someone can help me. I BF my son exclusively, no cereal or solids yet. He is 5 months old. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I gave him 1 bottle of formula because I didn’t have milk pumped and I was somewhere where I didn’t feel comfortable BF. He had no BM’s for the following week. After that he has been going 6-12 times a day, while he used to go only once every 4 days or so. Also it was mustard yellow before. Now it’s very dark green and the texture is like thick mucus, almost like hair gel. And sometimes its foamy. There has been no change in my diet and he’s acting normal. Oh, and he sweats alot even when its not warm in my house, but he doesn’t have a temperature. So 6-12 discolored BMs per day and alot of sweating…any ideas? Is this normal or should I take him to the doctors? If you can leave your comments on my page I’d really appreciate it alot. Thanks!!April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6912512
Nikki- My LO has been on solids for 2.5 months now. His weight gain has actually slowed down a bit. I don’t think it makes much of a difference because the food is replacing milk, not adding to it.April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6912768
Kym – how old is your baby? Kekoa does but he is a bit older then most on this board. When he was sick we would get dry diapers as well. But this was when he was noticably sick.April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6913024
misz-c-a, I thought I knew everything about breastfeeding as this was my 6th baby, but my nipples got SO SORE during that first week, I tell you, I nearly gave up!! I’m so glad I didn’t, but it was painful. They say sore nipples are caused by improper latching, but I think sometimes it’s just a matter of toughening up. I was very careful with my baby to make sure she was sucking properly but they got sore anyway. As for the big boobs, half your luck! lol. Mine don’t fill an A-cup, even when I’m breastfeeding!April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6913280
I sympathize, mickyq0606. I have six kids; Penny the baby is 7 months old and often too distracted to feed well. I don’t know of any tricks, but when she’s sleepy she will usually nurse better. Otherwise maybe you could give the two-year old some crayons or something quiet to do, while you’re nursing the lo. Sometimes Penny settles to a feed better if there’s some background noise, soothing music or something.April 12, 2016 at 12:00 am #6913536
