mommaro – I was wondering if there was an lc you could see as well. I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did, so I can tell what not to do. If you do decide to supplement, which I get cause my LO did the exact same thing, don’t use a bottle! They are so smart and realize very quickly what is quick and easy. You can use a feeding tube, either on your breast or finger feed which is more similar to the breast. If you finger feed you need to pump though to produce milk and if you have a good latch the baby does this much better. You would need help with this though, if for some reason you can’t get professional support I’d be happy to e-mail you the info I got from the hospital. My milk didn’t come in until day six, so don’t worry it will come!

So my little girl is 4 days old and I had only been breastfeeding until today. She had been very fussy and cried unless I was feeding her. So today I gave in and gave her a bottle of formula. I really want to breastfeed but I feel like she is not getting enough milk from me. If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate them!!!

yay sugar, glad to see you here! were you still nursing Sahana when you had your son? I’m not sure if your body adjusts faster with the 2nd baby or not. He doesn’t seem hungry does he? I know with Parker, the painful engorgement was gone within a week. You know the old story…if they seem satisfied, then you’re making enough, and don’t worry, it will just make your supply drop!

jeffswife- definitely sounds like colic to me. Like the other ladies said, i don’t think that stopping breastfeeding will help at all. It’s just something that they have to grow out of. Ella was colic and we also pumped her legs and had to rock and rock and rock her for her to sleep at all. It was terrible, but, again, the bottle won’t help.

faithful I have not used the drops but i have used the seeds and powder and I think they work better in a tea. I boiled and ate the seeds for a while and didn’t really notice anything. They also don’t taste very good. So I would have to say tea or capsule is best. Tea might be alittle cheaper because some women need like 12-14 capsules to make a difference.

Nikki37, Oh Dear, I could not get my daughter to sleep when she was a baby, so my husband moved her into bed with us and she slept as long as I was next to her, but I never could get her out of bed with me, her daddy had to move into another room for the next almost 5 years, at about 5 she wanted her own room and since then she sleeps in her room. I am now pregnant with my 2nd 9 years later and I will never do that again, its just too hard to get them back into their own beds. I wish you luck!!!!

angela123 – interesting to read your comment. I came here for almost the same reason. My boy is almost 10 weeks old. He has been great with breastfeeding from the start. And suddenly he is having troubles. Initially (I think) he was getting frustrated that the milk is not coming fast enough. He kept scurming at my breast. I introduced a bottle in the last week, and it has just gone south from there. He is now swallowing so much air during breast feeding, crying, etc. I am ready to give up. I have more than enough milk, so not sure what the problem is. He has had maybe 3 bottles (one a day) and initially was ok with switching between bottle and breast. Anyone has any comments? I am ready to give up on breastfeeding. 🙁 Not enjoyable for me nor for my baby anymore.

Imgibson – I think you are better off feeding from the breast. Nipples are notorious for harboring bacteria way more so than breast. Careful with pacifiers too if you use them. Whenever my son is sick we try to limit what he uses and disinfect and sterilize everything as often as possible. Good luck!

mrsmom – I’m glad you are feeling better. As for Chris, he’s doing fine. I was worried that he would get upset since he just weaned but he doesn’t. He’ll point and say baby eating. A few times he tried to lift my shirt but I told him not to and he was fine with that. I have noticed that he gets into more mischief while I’m nursing. Silly Goose! HAHA! But that’s a 2-yr old for you. It was a big worry that had no merit in my case.

My husband has now learned to sleep through Alex’s snores but he wakes up with me at the smallest thing. I trust him completely. He’s slept on the couch with both boys. I have pictures of him cuddled up with both boys in our bed. When I worked I’d get up with Chris and get him ready. I’d then put him back in bed with Dad and get ready myself. Now that I’m not working I’ll geet up with Chris and leave Alex in bed with his dad. He loves sleeping with the boys. I do think for the most part breastfeeding moms are intune with their babies but with my husband I think he’s right there with us.
