I haven’t noticed any side effects on the fenugreek. I take it in a tea with other herbs a few times a day. It is winter and you body needs more water so make sure you drink drink drink.

    Hello Ladies-

Any suggestions on a breast pump that is quiet and easy to use at work? I have heard that the Medela Free Style is good for that, but I wanted to get some input from you who are actually using breast pumps. Please let me know, because I want to get one before I deliver. Thank you

bluey04 – Are you sure it is too much milk too fast? When you were talking about gassiness and being uncomfortable all night I thought of my own son. I had to completely cut out diary until he was 8months old. I’ve heard of other foods that mom eats that can cause baby to be uncomfortable as well. How old is your baby? If your baby is really young then it could be a fast letdown as well. I would try like you said, express a little and then feed. Once your baby gets a bit older and can handle the fast let down then you should be fine. Be sure to burp your baby as well. I’ve read a few places where moms are saying that you don’t need to burp a breastfed baby. That’s not true in all cases. If your baby is getting a lot of air then yes burp your baby. Good Luck!

I hope it goes in easily for me…I’ve never used an IUD before. I’ve had a few friends who have had good luck with it. If not, I guess it’s back to the pill!

Bri, thank you for the advice. My little girl is growing, gaining and having normal wet diapers. In fact she did better today. I think you were right about a phase. Thank you for your words of advice, I greatly appreciated them!

jess0402- good job making it through the pain! Been there, not alot of fun. Also, when you nurse your body releases chemicals which is probably the cause of the blues during nursing. I’ve never experienced it myself, but you may want to contact your doctor about it. kimberlyT- I am so happy that you found someone to figure out what was going on! It can be so frustrating when drs don’t trust what you are telling them. Hopefully your new diet won’t be too bad!

I just changed my feeding schedule from every 3hrs to every 4 so that illiminates one feeding throughout the day. My LO also has decided he can go through the night (7 til 6:30) So this couts out another feeding so he is getting 4 feeds a day and I am wondering…Is this enough?

i like the fermented oats too. my bf is like that is gross. i really like oatmeal though so after soaking, i add milk and brown sugar. About the breastfeeding while smoking, of couse I say it’s worth it to quit if not for you but for the baby. My mom bf me for 14 months and she smoked atleast a pack a day. They smoked in the house and around me and my siblings. i turned out just fine, but I will NOT let anyone smoke near Julianna. I agree with whoever said they can’t make the choice not to breathe that stuff in or not so i i will decide for them. I am strongly against smoking, when i am around it now i get really conjested and can’t breathe well.

There is a lot of choice with formula, Kym, if it comes to that (I hope it doesn’t) but what I have been told is that you get what you pay for: the more expensive ones are better, but all are perfectly adequate and if Baby is eating a healthy variety of solids, you don’t necessarily need to buy the really expensive ones. The dosages are on the can, and it stays good for a month or more after opening (maybe two months or more?). But good luck with continuing to BF. Your supply could def be affected by being unwell.

horseygal – I went back to work full-time when my son was 3 months old and had no supply issues. Just pump as often as he eats. Try to start pumping before you go back if you havent yet because 1 it will get your body used to pumping especially alternating with nursing and 2 its always nice to start with a freezer supply. My supply dropped when I started solids but he also needed less BM. The only issue with supply I have is when I am trying to increase to more than he nurses. I give him BM in his cereal and like to give him an extra bottle throughout the day for when he is thirsty (he isnt taking to a sippy cup very well) – Good luck!!

1byFaith- YES! Completely normal. It will get better. Hang in there. Nursing like that will also help you establish a great supply. It is hard at the very beginning, but you are doing great! Way to go.

I use the Medela Pump-In-Style and love it. My son is 11 months and I have been back to work full-time since 3 months and are still breastfeeding. I pretty much exclusively breastfeed and I love the pump. Plus the customer service is really good for the first year (which is how long the warantee is for).

xtrainergirl – It’s very normal to have longer and shorter cycles when your period comes back. I went six weeks when my first one came back. When I wanted to get pregnant while I was still feeding I just did it the old fashion way. My husband and I had sex every other day from when my period stopped until it was suppose to come again. I didn’t think it would take the first time but it did. I’m not 22weeks with my second child. Kekoa just self weaned last month. Good Luck TTC! It may take a few months but just have fun with it.

kinta – This is a very active forum and so yes you will get replies. I’m sorry you had troubles with breastfeeding. You aren’t alone. That’s why this forum is so important to us. Those of us that have had troubles and didn’t want to stop come here for answers. But, we get a lot of people coming on here to argue with us. To tell us that what we are doing is either wrong or that formula is just as good. We all know better. Does that mean your child is going to be less of a person because of it, absolutely not. Your child will most likely be an intelligent and productive member of society. But, to come here and tell us that you do have it harder in society is just plain wrong. Maybe in your head and your own guilt makes you feel this way but none of us will be able to help you with that. We all welcome suggestions on how we are able to continue what we are doing or talk about interesting articles that we’ve found. We never bash mothers that have opted out of breastfeeding but will post things that support our own choices. Please, post what ever and when ever you want but please let it be productive to breastfeeding. Those that are against it in any way should be done on other pages.

Question girls! I’m trying to get my LO to take a bottle of EBM, the thing is he fusses at it for a while & then will finally take it later on. How long is the bottle of warmed BM good for once he has drank from it? Should I keep it out if its only like 30mins or an hour? Should I put it in the fridge or should I throw it out?? Suggestions please!! 🙂
