lisseth – Thats a long time pumping! I considered myself exclusively pumping since my son only nursed once a day if that due to our schedules and timing. I always went by my body and knew to the minute how long it would take to get 2 letdowns. I understand the point is to overstimulate since its not the same stimulation as nursing, but you know your body and what it takes!

Kickboxerbaby – The first thing you need to do is RELAX. Stressing out really ruins your supply. I am sure your body will make enough for your LO if you stop stressing it. If I were you I would rent some good movies & stay in and nurse nurse nurse!!!! Just let LO stay on the boob as long & often as possible. Cuddle him a lot, stare at him, sing to him. Relax & nurse. Everything will pick up. Good luck to you 🙂

We’re also nursing to sleep. It works well for our lifestyle. There’s a great article on kellymom.com about it that helped make me sure the decision was right for us.

I used washable breastpads – microfleece inner, wool outer and microfiber sandwiched in between. The microfiber is SUPER absorbent so that helps, you don’t want don’t want it to touch your skin, though because it will dry out your skin (that’s how absorbent it is!)

butterflykisses715 – My sister had one and loved it. My first son is really too young for it or else I’d get one. He’s only two and our hop off and be gone but my neice was 4 when my nephew was born. Old enough to stay close.

ok ladies I need help my son is 5 days old I was going to bottle feed because my doctor is going to put me back on aspirin, all the lactation counselors have told me not to nurse and take it, I changed my mind and decided I would not go back on it, yesterday I was able to get my son to latch on and feed but as the day progressed I noticed that he was really gassy, I nursed him on both sides and when he wouldnt settle down we gave him a bottle he drank 2 oz, does anyone have any advice for me things have changed so much since I nursed 7 years ago. Im not sure if its because I’m not producing enuf I have read that you can supplement with formula also, my son dosent seem to have a problem switching from Brest to nipple, please post to my page thank you

Oh and I saw a shirt the other day that I thought you ladies would love….’I’m too lazy for bottles!’ Isn’t that so true. Bottles are a pain in the rear! I hated when I worked. After putting Chris down for the night I would have to go downstairs to wash and prepare bottles for the next day. Plus all the other things that I needed to do around the house. So much easier this way.

GOD-IVA : Also DO NOT FORGET YOURSELF! You are burning on average 500 calories MORE a day by nursing. So remember to buy things that are easy for you to grab with one had and eat, LOL! My Mom made a TON of baked chicken tenders and they were great cold. I could just grab a few out of the fridge. Also, don’t forget PLENTY of water! I remember be so wiped out and frustrated nursing when we got home. I was the only one that could feed my baby and he was ALWAYS eating. It does get better and I remember laughing at the girls who said that. I was thinking, how? My baby is only going to get bigger and need MORE! But not true they get ‘better’ at eating. They know boob time is to eat and they hurry and do it, fill up, so they can look/see the world! Hang in there and know we’ve all been there!

didderty – Yup, just the normal white rice you get with Chinese or Japanese food. Works well. Oh and I’d definately be hand expressing into the bottle.

Leslie, I was told 15 pills a day to see a difference. I think it can give some babies gas but that’s the only side effect.

katjak7 – But that is fairly rare. For the normal baby you can’t overfeed.

God-Iva – when DD was first born and losing weight and we thought we were going to have to supplement, we bought 4 cans of the ready made stuff (expensive!). We ended up donating it to a program for low income families. I guess in that case I hated to waste money but I think I personally would donate free stuff as well. The fact is there are formula fed babies and they deserve to eat too.
