Leslie, I’m a 38DD right now. I sit with one leg bent on the chair/bench. It props Alex up higher so I be straight. But often I do find myself hunching forward.

if you have any friends that FF give it to them. That’s what i do. It’s not like they can go back in time and BF, so might as well help them out.

Zoey has become a thumb sucker the last few days (20 weeks old yesterday). She’s addicted! So much so that this morning, while nursing, she kept trying to get her thumb in her mouth at the same time. This, of course, kept breaking her latch. The only way I could stop her was to cup my breast so she couldn’t get to it. Anyone else go through the fingers in the mouth thing while trying to nurse? Suggestions? She ended up getting frustrated and deciding she wasn’t all that hungry after all. Sigh.

illy2- Tell her to hang in there! Zoey nursed CONSTANTLY the first 5 weeks of her life. I found this page at about 3 weeks and the ladies told me to hang in there, it usually gets better at 4-6 weeks. I felt like those 1-3 more weeks were impossible! But they truly do go by and one day you wake up and realize you were able to eat dinner without the baby attached to you, or you were able to snuggle with your significant other for a few minutes. I was so miserable and I could not be more glad I stuck with it. Tricks of the trade… movies, books, and laying while nursing! To this day, laying down is our preferred method of nursing. It helped me when Zoey’s dad didn’t sit so far across the room because one of the things I resented was the lack of time with him. But when he snuggled up behind me while I nursed her, I was able to feel the bonding and not just the misery. Promise her it’ll get better. Make sure she’s staying hydrated. It’s helping build her supply as well as meeting his sucking needs. I’d hug her if I could! I remember it all too well. But it gets sooooooooo much easier.

Lexi- I use Dr. Brown’s bottles. I haven’t pumped in ages but I pumped a lot when Zoey was 6-12 weeks and she never had a problem with gas from them. They’re a pain to clean but worth it in the end, I guess. Good luck!

I’m small chested (B, on a good day) so maybe it’s easier to nurse laying down for us…but when Zoey was very young, she slept with her head on my arm, on her side. Now, she sleeps laying on the bed, on her back, head turned towards me. I’m able to get us comfortable by propping a thin pillow or two under me so that I’m slightly elevated and she has easy access to my nipple whenever she wants it. Play with the pillows a bit and see what works best for you. i just make sure to keep them away from her, of course. I never meant to co-sleep but I learned quickly I needed it to keep my sanity. I felt like it was a guilty pleasure until I realized it’s just another element of attatchment parenting. Guess that’s just what instinctually makes sense to me! I do worry a little bit about her wanting to sleep with me until she’s 12 but I’ll just try to follow her cues and trust she’ll want independance before she needs a training bra! lol

Stupid photobucket. I was trying to add a photo of Alex in his Powered by Breastmilk tee but it wouldn’t let me. Blah!! It used to. I don’t know why it wouldn’t now?

illy2 – It does take over a week to get out of both your systems. usually when someone starts a dairy free diet moms notice a difference in about 3 weeks, no a day.

Bri: I have a question about blw. Levi is almost 4 months old. I want to do blw, and she’s very interested in our food. My question, if I do blw, does it mean I can never give purees? I’m planning on waiting until at least 5 months, but my mom is going to be in town during our wedding. She never gets to see Levi, as she lives about 900 miles away, so I’d like her to be here for her first meal. Would it be bad to give her organic purees once, then hold off for solids for a while longer?

In the Questions section is someone looking for scientific articles on the benefits of breastfeeding (not opinions). I don’t know of any, but thought I would pass that on in case someone knew of some.

seuban0, we started our boys on sippy cups around 6mo as well. We use any of the hard spout, no spill cups. Really isn’t any brand in particular that we like, we just use whatever we can find dirt cheap!

I hope she goes to bed soon. Yeah Ollie prefers his side not fond of his back much at all.

I call my LO ‘Poopy’ most of the time. She pooped inside of me before she came out, and continues to poop 6 or 7 times a day at 3 months lol. Someone forgot to tell her she could go a week without pooping!

poohspooh – my 3wk old does this too (also her older sister did as well). Do you co-sleep? I found that to be the best way to be able to nurse and get some rest as well. If you use the side lying position you can go back to sleep while baby nurses.
