    Hello,
I have a question for you veteran moms on here. How long have you EBF for? Jacob will be 6mnts on the 9th. I’m ebfing him, but getting pressure from my mom to introduce solids so he will ‘sleep through the night’. He still eats some nights 2 or more times, but I think its bc its summer and its hot. I mean, I wake up thirsty sometimes too!

Anyway, I’m also going to be taking a second job (i currently work from home with my DH business doing emails etc) but I will be teaching once a week – so Wednesdays I’ll be out of the house from about 7am till 2 or 3pm. I’m really not much of a pumper either – I just love BFing and find it takes SOOOO much longer to pump. But I know I have to start bc Jacob eats SOOO much!

Anyway, I’m wondering when to start, what to start on with food….I bought rice cereal but haven’t done anything with it.

Also, I’m planning to go to Hawaii in December with DH. Any advice on air travel? I have to fly solo there with baby (he will be 9mnths)… bc of my job, I couldn’t leave earlier, but we had already booked our accommodations starting on the 25 of November with DH and his family.

Will I need a car seat? Can you bring breast milk on the flight? so many questions! Thanks!

As for pumping… I definately agree it is a skill. I am finally learning how to pump 4-5 ounces after my baby eats. I am learning what works for me in achieving let downs. At first I could only get half an ounce from both breast!!!! I tried and tried and tried but thats all I could get. Now I now exactly the speed and suction my breast let down and what I need to do…. Im just so happy because I failed so miserably with breastfeeding my first and I felt like such a failure but now I could look back and see that I was ill prepared and was surrounded with such negativity twards breastfeeding. My mother never breastfed us and she was always behind me saying ‘shes starving,…..Your not making enough milk.’ blah blah blah. I sat her down and schooled her like I educated myself. I let her know alllll the benefits. I even brought her to a pediatrician appointment so she could be schooled by her Pediatrician too! Now she couldnt be happier about my ongoing success of breastfeeding. She even brags to people about how her granddaughter is 100% breastfed. I just think people who are negative twards BF are just lacking in knowledge of its benifits. The most helpful advice I ever got from my research is, ‘Put invisible earplugs on… you will succeed and your baby will thrive because your body will know what to do, if it womens bodies didnt the human race would fail to exist.’

how long does milk last in the fridge, and am i right in thinking you store it at the back? also once milk is thawed how long does it last and can it be refridgerated? Also i’m going back to work when ollie is 9 months only 2 days a week when should i start building a milk supply for when he is at nursery? I didn’t go back with james until he was 1 and he had dropped day time feeding by then. Ollie is only 1 month at the moment.

Emilee, good luck hun! I’m having sympathy pains for you. HAHA! Actually I’m a bit sore. Last night Alex was latched on the entire time…literally. I would fall asleep and he’d be on and wake up and he’d still be on. He was throwing fits last night too. Don’t know what his problem is but hopefully we won’t be repeating it tonight.

hahahaha emilee. that is too funny. but yeah, i don’t like that. Titties isn’t a very nice name for it. I like when little kids say ‘milkies’.

both my kids were posterior. Damion turned the right way when he was crowning, they watched him turn. But the cord was already around his neck, and when he turned it tightened the cord too much, and his heart stopped. (he’d been having decels the whole labour) They did an emergency episiotomy to get him out, since he was so close anyway, and they cut the cord when just his head was out of me. as soon as they cut the cord his heartbeat came back, and he scored 9 and 9 on his apgars. Braeden was also posterior, and didn’t turn until he was halfway out. The doctor was yelling at me, ‘don’t push, don’t push, don’t push!’ I asked DH why later, and he said that’s when he was turning, and shooting out at the same time, all on his own. If I’d pushed DH thinks I would have tore really badly, as it was I only had to have 3 stitches with him.

Well. It’s almost 4 here. I’ve got to work tomorrow in a concession stand for a festival so I really needed some rest… but my best friend just told me he talked to one of Zoey’s dad’s friends while he was out tonight…and found out her dad was seeing said friend from October to April of this past year. I had Zoey in February. We have been officially together since last July. There goes my sleep. And my life. Talk about an impending dip in supply.

formula = imitation? That is in fact what it is, so those that are supplementing with/using it can’t get offended and say that we are calling it poison, since a lot of them like to say that we are…

Hotmess- I agree with checking how many wet/poopy diapers at this point should be 8-10 and I’d your waking the baby every 2 hours try a baby wipe over babies head that can help

benbubby- that’s where we’re headed on the 20th. I’ll let you know! I did read a tip that said to get one of those blow-up bath tubs to put on the sand and fill up with ocean water so your little one could play safely (without the risk of creepy crawlies and waves). I think I’ll give that a try as well as the tent idea. Her dad bought her 100 spf sunscreen but I never considered it might be unsafe (haven’t used it yet) so I’ll have to go check and see what it is before we pack it. Other ideas welcome!

My husband used to get hickeys all the time from my first. He’d latch onto his neck, arm, chest, you name it. HAHA! Alex has a strong suck reflex but it’s either me or a pacifier. If he wants to suck and neither of ‘us’ is around he screams bloody murder. He’s never even tried to suck on someone else.

James is also sometimes Jimbo or baby boy Rice, as thats what they wrote on his book in the hospital. Even though he had a name straight away!
