janna- I started the mini pill 6 weeks after having my son. I had a terrible time keeping my supply up. It took me a while to realize what the root problem was. In the side effects pamphlet that came with my prescription it stated that some women may experience a decrease in breast milk. I was one of the ‘lucky’ ones. My son ate every 1.5-2 hours pretty much around the clock and I was eating fermented oats 2x a day, using Brewers yeast tablets and drinking a beer just to make enough. Once I went off the pill things gradually worked their way back up, but it was a huge struggle for a few months. My suggestion would be to be very cautious. If you notice a dip in supply, stop taking it right away. Just my personal experience. Many women have no problem with the mini pill though. Good luck with your decision!

Am I the only one that doesn’t worry about Dad rolling onto Baby? Joe cuddles(d) with both boys. I guess neither of us are active sleepers. We have a king bed as well. Alex sleeps between us unless Chris comes to bed with us. Then one of them will sleep on the outside. Usually it’s Chris but he fell out of bed a week ago so if he comes to our bed then Alex has been moved to the outside so Chris can thrash in between us. I still haven’t bought a crib although I do have his bedding. I got that about a month ago. Alex is over 4 months now. He’ll eventually move to his room. It’s usually happens when they start to migrate in bed. I can handle feet or a head in my tummy for a single night but when it’s every night I just can’t do it anymore. HAHA! Everynight there is either 3 or 4 people in my bed. I love it.

mybaby, it just sounds like he is getting too much in his mouth before swallowing. The mouth and the nose are connected internally, so it is common for things, esp liquids, to come out the nose. 🙂

Miley-I have the same problem. I’m constanly battling my weight loss. I looked like a skeleton at 6 weeks. I started to put some back on after that. But even now nearly 12 months pp I’m down about five pounds pre-pregnancy weight. That puts me at 5 foot tall, 102 pounds. I’m still in healthy weight range but I eat sweets after lunch and dinner. I think instead of 500 extra calories I’m taking in about 800 extra. I do take a multi and an extra folic just to make sure not to get malnurished. Also some of the tired may be due to lack of sleep. Just try to keep eating. When ever you think about it go grab something to eat. I had a can of almonds or some other nut beside my nursing chair. Everytime I nursed I grabbed a handful. Oh and if my MIL tells me I need to stop losing weight one more time…

Ahhh Leslie! I want to cry for you! I remember Joe washed our vent aire bottles one night and put them back together without the bottom piece. I don’t know why he put the collar on without the darn air screen. But whatever. It was late and getting Chris’ bottles ready for the next day. I poured the milk into the bottle. It stayed but when I lifted it to put on the nipple it ALL came out. I just sat on the kitchen floor and cried!! He felt so bad. From then on I always checked the darn things…until we switched bottles because of the bpa thing. That was only like 4oz. I can’t imagine doing that with a freezer full.

HELP! DJ bit me SO BAD!! He’s got a killer cold and I was nursing him laying down in bed. He fell asleep and that’s when he did it. He’s been really good. Now I have 3 open cuts, 2 bottom, 1 top. If I nurse him on that nipple, do you think I might get mastitis? I’ve heard the bacteria in the baby’s mouth can get through the open sore…

so i have successfully switched back to ebf and i’m so happy about it. i am very lucky to have been able to keep my supply up the past month and a half. she only had three bottles at daycare yesterday and they said she was SO GOOD!! only fussed when she was hungry. that is so not my baby so i’m thinking things may be looking up! i’m just very happy to not have any screaming fits at night anymore. emilee-you had mentioned something about the eye contact your baby makes with you while bf…..oh how i love that as well!!! she just studies so hard on my facial features and then she will catch my eye and smile. i just absolutely LOVE it!!! i never knew i could love another human being as much as i love my little girl. it was really cute yesterday caroline just started holding her hands up to her bottle (not holding it-but just putting her hands on the side of it) and then last night she was holding my boob and it was so funny!

puddin1, could she be getting to an age where she thinks she might miss something if she sleeps? Braeden went through several weeks of not wanting to sleep during the day even though he was tired. He was super cranky, due to being overtired, but didn’t want to go to sleep. Also, I just recently realized the reason he fusses so much when he’s tired, is that he is the complete opposite of my first son, who had to be rocked and cuddled to sleep. Braeden doesn’t want to be touched when he’s tired, so me trying to help him sleep is actually keeping him up (I actually just figured this out this week, it seems totally odd to me). I had to cuddle with Damion every day/night of his life for the first 4 years to get him to sleep, and here’s Braeden at 4.5 months old, wanting to just be put down in his crib for naps/bedtime. I’m kind of sad, since this means that my co-sleeping days are over, at least with this baby. He just doesn’t sleep well with us. If he’s on his own he sleeps so much better 🙁

Seuban I don’t have first hand experience of having seperated parents, but I would imagine it would be better to have two loving homes than one sad/ angry home.

Leslie, I did A LOT of research when Chris was moving up in seats. The Britax is the best of the market. They are darn expensive but it’s because they are the only true side impact carseat. The others just don’t stand up to the Britax. I now have two Boulevards in my car. They’re $300 each but they are well worth it. The carseat is just one baby item that I will go for the very best, no matter the cost!

    A) 9PM in NH and so bored

    B) So from my reading the comments… It should be normal for my 1 week old to only wake up to feed… Then go right back to sleep??? It seems like she is never awake unless I’m changing her…. Or she’s screaming because she is hungry. ALSO whenever she has crying fits I feed her. Is that okay… It’s the only thing that will soothe her… Nothing else!
