oh and i know this is pages and pages ago but i’m jealous of all you guys that live over in WA. Just seems so much more, i dunno, laid back? I live in the woods and there’s nothing like for kids to play like you always talk about, Bri. And how people NIP. I’ve never seen someone here nursing, none of my friends nurse, etc. It’s great. Maybe i’ll be leaving Jersey! lol I’m not sure i could convice hubs to move across the country though…

haha, good luck, Bri. It’s 12:30 here and i just can’t seem to unwind from work. Had a stressful day. Drinking some tea, and then i’m going to lay in my bed even if i don’t fall asleep!

lilmamamads, my hubby was a hard sell with the cloth as well. Our first big fight while dating was over cloth diapers. I said that I was not going to use disposables and that there was no question about it, I was going to cloth diaper. He was pissed that I would make that kind of a decision so abruptly. Didn’t think I had done any homework on it at all. After three days of not talking, I got out of work to find a BOOK of pages printed out from the internet highlighting all sorts of little CD factoids, and a letter saying that he agreed with me, we were going cloth, mind you we were still dating at this point and hadn’t really even talked about getting engaged! The deciding factors for him was the savings and he was really disturbed that the same chemical banned from tampons for their link to TSS was put into disposables and had actually caused infants to develop TSS. His ‘one condition’ was that we look into some of the newer diapers that were more of the AIO or OS diapers and didn’t use the old fashioned prefolds. Well, when it came time for us to order diapers, I pulled out all the prices and care instructions for all these fancy diapers…we ended up with prefolds! Silly boy! Anyway, for us, we have the diapers and a wet bag. We did not get the diaper sprayer as we both felt that we could get by with just dunking the poopy diapers in the toilet. Those that do have the sprayer say that it isn’t powerful enough to shoot poo water everywhere, and that you just have to be careful to aim it into the toilet. The last ‘have to have’ item would be diaper safe detergent.

okay so I did the fermented oatmeal for 2-3 days and didnt notice a difference right off the bat but I did get engorged for the first time ( my baby is 4 weeks old) and when I pump in the morning I do get a lot more milk! So is it the oatmeal, is it the engorgement? is it a little of both? or did the oatmeal cause me to finally fill up nicely? Will never know but just happy I have more of a supply! I think I have like 14 oz frozen and 4 bottles in the fridge!

lawson – awesome! If she’s doing all those things then she’s a little ahead from what I understand. Some babies are just starting to sit unassisted at this time and that’s normal too. Alyssa’s temperment is very ‘spirited’ so we think we’re going to have a little monster on our hands as she gets older. She wants to explore everything, we can’t take our eyes off her for a second. lol

jpeanut503, after warming your milk, gently swirl the milk instead of shaking. The freezing and thawing and warming of the milk does enough ‘damage’ to the milk that you don’t want to further it by shaking the milk. Just a gentle swirl is all that’s needed to mix the fat back in. 🙂

So I know this is really stupid but i justhave to tell you guys… I was just making some choc. milk and started laughing at myself. This is how little I knew about BFing when my first was born and a reason I thought I wouldn’t be able to bf… lol I use to never drink milk and hardly do now. ANyways I thought that in order to make milk myself I had to drink it! And because I didn’t drink milk I thought there is no way I could BF. lol

pinkish – No there isn’t ready made stuff. Quick oats and instant just don’t work as well. Just buy the old fashion oats and soak them. As for weight, I never noticed a difference. It’s healthy and I’d just eat it for breakfast.
