doublemamma it sounds like your doctor is trying to cover her own back at your expense. I would stick to what you are doing it sounds like you know your stuff.

styx – Good Luck! I’m sure your baby will be fine. I’d be having anxiety about it too. I’m one of those moms that if my infant can’t come I don’t go. I’ve spent one night away from my toddler and that was to give birth to my second. Alex hasn’t been away from me for more then a half hour for me to run to the store. I know I’m silly but I have too much anxiety about it. Alex also hasn’t ever had a bottle so it makes it harder.

Hey Ladies, I should be joining ya’ll in October and cant wait! But right now I am working on registries and such so my question to you guys, What BFing essentials should I add to my registries and what brands do you find work best for you all. Obviously need a Boppy pillow and nursing bra and breast pads but I am kinda clueless as to the rest. I plan to EBF (because I am a home maker) but I figure having a pump just in case would be good. Also breast sheilds, what exactly do they shield and do I need them? Thanks Ladies!

ButterflyKisses, you’re lucky. Usually you can expect to tack on an additional 2 weeks for a section. I bled for 8 weeks and then any time I did anything for another month I’d start to bleed. It was horrible! Buti t was also my second. Don’t know if that makes a difference as well. I didn’t bleed so badly with my first. Again, every woman and every pregnancy is sooooo different.

It’s funny how some parents have fights over these things. I make a decision about the boys and my husband just goes with it. I’m home all day with them so I’m in charge. No fights! He knows I research the heck out of everything so he has no problem with the decisions I make.

LCMelbourne…you are doing just fine…my baby used to nurse for only 8-10mins…every 2 hrs…and sleep the rest of the time…sometimes she will start feeding then suddenly she was deep asleep….i would change diaper to make her awake and feed again…but now she is 6 months…hardly sleeps…lol…but still she will be on the boobs for only 5-10 mins…she is 50-75th% on weight…and 97+% on height…so it doesn’t matter how long they feed…just check that she has wet diapers…and she is gaining weight steadily:)

I just ate a whole broccoli for dinner – not sure what the consequences will be on myself or my lo and probably not such a good idea considering we have a 5 hour drive ahead of us tomorrow!

I came across this article today. Now when I’m sick of pumping at work I can tell myself ‘she could do it so I can too!’

The difference between stage one and stage two foods…the size of the jar. Stage ones are 2.5oz and stage twos are 4oz. Biggest difference. Getting into the stage twos you do have some fruit blends, but nothing too serious. Zach didn’t really do any of the purees, so we never had to worry about it, but with Ayden, we never bought the stage ones. It was cheaper to buy the stage two and split it in half. Use part today, the rest tomorrow.

jessica, i get that way too. i almost want to track around when it happens because it seems to happen in cycles as if its pms but without a period. the strange thing is this time when i got all moody my supply also dipped exactly as if i was on my period, except i wasnt! hang in there, i think its just the ‘hormones at war’ as my obgyn kindly told me 😛 find things that help u through it, for me its staying busy and focusing on the blessings in life as well as talking to my hubby. sleep is also huge!

Bri – my father and my grandmother (who is 98) drink goats milk everyday for the health benefits. They say it tastes like regular milk. I started researching it when a friend of mine (who has a PhD in nutrition) told me she started supplementing her kids with goatsmilk at a very young age (before 1 year old I think) and she went on and on about the health benefits. After reading a bit about it I found that studies have shown that goatsmilk is very much like human milk. Definitely a lot closer to it than cows milk. Anyway, I’m sure it’s not common and might seem weird to some people (as it seemed weird to me when I first heard about it) but just throwing it out there. It’s an option if anyone is interested in reading up on it. if there comes a time when Alyssa needs to be supplemented before she’s a year old, my friend gave me recipe to make my own formula from goatsmilk so I don’t ever have to resort to manufactured formula and all the chemicals. But… knock on wood… my supply these days has been doing a lot better. Still… something I might consider when the time comes for her to have milk from a different source.
