babyinjuly – I also started my LO on solids a week before he turned 4 months. I give him rice ceral mixed with breast milk by spoon at night. He LOVES it. I also gave him a bit of plain mashed sweet potato on thanksgiving while I was cooking & he hated it & gagged. He did the same with a tiny piece of banana so I haven’t started routinely giving him anything except cereal. I would say rice cereal & oatmeal are a great starting platform!! Good luck 🙂

My Lo does the same. He still wakes up every 3-4 hours- sometimes less just to feed and fall right back to sleep. I too have tried rocking, giving pacifier but he’s not content till he is nursing.. I too have tried moving him to his crib but so hard for me to get up 3-4 times a night to comfort/feed him. So much more easier to have him right beside me.. I have even tried giving him cereal at night but lately he still wakes up.

jessicalynn21 – Definately work the lump out before it becomes clogged and infected.

kyanaandmalachismom – It might work for you if you haven’t been pumping with another pump! Medela support said my body was used to the pumping/sucking style of the pump in style adavanced (which I love) minus the ugly bag! 🙂 However, based on all the reviews online some really like it! My boobs might just be too big for it! I didn’t even use the hands free kit because I had such a hard time with the rest of it.

wyatts*mommy – Go for it!! I would love to but even though I have enough I just don’t have time to pump with a toddler around. Plus my milk doesn’t freeze well. It would be an awesome gift to a mom going through such a hard experience with a baby in the NICU. I’ve heard that they only take milk that is from a mom with a baby under a year old? Probably because mom’s milk changes over time. Good Luck!

Explo – There is no doubt that the formula is a life saver when necessary! And don’t feel like a failure! You are a dedicated mom who did whatever was necessary to get your sweet little baby to thrive… Btw, peppermint tea helps with reducing your milk supply and engorgement.

We’ve always done organic or home grown. You just never know what goes into the foods you eat. Our meats also come from organic Washington farmers. A postive to living where we do!

stxy, I hang out on the 0mo page to lend a hand to the moms that don’t realize that this page is here…I just said something about it. I don’t care if she gets catty with me. 🙂 I gave her a link to the Kellymom page that gives the info on how much to feed BM to a baby. She can do with it what she wants. *shrug*

Bri~No, his follow up with peds is Monday and I told them I would survive until then. I really just wanted out of the hospital and didn’t want the delay of waiting for another prescription! I think I will heal it is just hard starting out with this much nipple pain, but really he is doing so well, Evie didn’t latch on this quickly and her latch took forever to correct (she had a one way latch, the side craddle became my best friend) so I know I can push through the pain. I own a nipple shield but haven’t used it yet, I want to avoid it completely and only have it in case things take a really bad turn. My mom is here helping with my toddler and is so suportive, she BF my brother and I so it helps to have her here and cheering me on. Glad to be in this forum again as well, I know last time this place was a godsend for me and all my questions! Hopign it is easier this time as I have done this before and KNOW I am capable of doing this!

LaIsla – YES cluster feeding ends, it really does! I remember being SO exhausted from it but thankful I at least knew what was going on. I also remember thinking if you could just know how many hours it was going to last it wouldn’t be so bad. It WILL stop, I promise, and then a part of you will miss those cluster feeding days 🙂

ama-llama – I know hat you mean. Because I am very verbal in my stance on breastfeeding I have been attack on hundreds of occasions. I have even see women attacked for asking a breastfeeding question. The month-to-month pages are full of women asking about bottle portions and such. It’s very frustrating that breastfeeders have to hide, even on the Internet.

Double, lots of babies are at 10. That’s actually pretty normal. A little bit of iron drops or even high iron rich foods like broccolli will help. I know you haven’t started meats yet but that can help too.
