mountainmama good advice on getting a booth at a retaurant…I hadn’t thought of that. To you ladies that can nurse while walking around a store thats talent! I can do it at home but definitely not while shopping. I use the gerber pads too they don’t stick on me.

It’s a good thing I don’t depend on pumping to feed my DD. Between the two sides after eating on one (and pumping during a let down), I was able to get a combined 1 oz! Bought some new bottles to try, but I have a feeling my DD is still too smart… 😀

hchina and Jody04 I am so gald you guys are feeling a bit better! hchina I so hope your supply will increase with more (albeit painful but not excrutiating) feedings! ;o) ….Also this is just a side note, but I think it helps with my supply: I eat alot of hardboiled eggs (the ones that are free range and have the Omega 3) and drink alot of water. I feel like they help my supply. Maybe it is just psychosomatic, but I feel like the egg protein helps… I probably eat like 5 or 6 per week…

i want to say i feel very good about my breastfeeding choice today… theres a group of moms ( teen moms …im 20 but it goes to age 22) that im a part of all of our kids are the same age and out of all 20 of them i am the only one who is breast feeding and going to continue doing it until he weans himself off. it was really sad to think that one other one tried but she gave up…….so i proudly sat there with my boob out feeding him 😀 and while they all looked at me funny i just sat and smiled back at them i wish more young moms would at least try it and not just give up because the first week hurt and a bottle was ‘easier’ ….maybe its because im not the typical teen mom because im married and our baby was planned i dont know but i wish atleast there were more that put in the effort to do it 🙂

xXxEXPLOxXx – maybe your milk is regulating. If baby is getting 6+ dirty diapers a day and gaining baby is getting enough milk 🙂

secondstar – I waited 4 weeks before introducing a binky and 6 for bottle. My LO loved to suck when she was a newborn so she when she wasn’t eating she was pretty much just sucking on my finger. lol Since I have a toddler as well there was no way that I could have her using me as a pacifier all the time. When we introduced the bottle I had hubby feed her for the first few times. That way she wouldn’t get used to having an ‘easy feed’ from me. I went back to work at 12 weeks so we wanted some time to be sure she would take the bottle. Plus I do go out once a week for my ‘me time’ yoga class! Since you had some struggles then I would wait at least 6 weeks, maybe 8. Good luck!!

excitedmisty – Completely normal! Babies start sleeping through the night on their own schedule. Some from day 1 and others not until they are over a year old. Sorry! Most babies will be giving you at least six hours (considered sleeping through) by six months but then around eight they start waking again because of anxiety.

Bri, I’ve seen you say a few times that your milk doesn’t keep/freeze well. How do you know? I’d hate to feed Zoey bad milk without knowing it.

as far as nipple confussion my little guy latched on great the first day got a pacifier on day 3 and a bottle of expressed milk and i would go between breast and bottle we never had any nipple confussion he just would take anything. i thought he was starting to get nipple confuision but he just ended up not wanting to latch because he wasnt feeling 100% but he is back to normal now and is nursing every 3 to 4 hours and i still give him a pacifire so im not sure what you would do about it i would say she needs to offer nothing but breast to the baby so it doesnt get worse and he stops taking to her all together

Deeyore your awesome 🙂 I was going to say something this morning too its amazing the sheer volume formula babies eat so people just assume bf babies need the same

Oh and Asher seems to not even notice the difference in his tongue, he just automatically corrected his latch once his tongue was free! This boy was born knowing what to do! Plus my milk is in now so we are soaking diapers and having our first fully BF poos this morning so I know we are doing something right! 4 more weeks give or take for normal nipple soreness to pass so hoping I heal and push through in that time frame.

laisla, that was me when my son was born. shes probably latching/relatching because of hte reflux not your supply. my son would do the same and that feeling just made me want to jump out of my skin. i dont have the ‘calming’ sensation most women have with latching so with each time he’d latch id feel these odd negative feelings. but once he got started sucking it was ok. anyway there is an end in sight. around 2 months he started going longer stretches, and could even sleep 8 hrs straight in the night…in the meantimes my nipples got tougher and his reflux eased up so all around things improved. hes now almost 6 months and we’re sailing smoothly 🙂
