QUESTION: DJ is 7mons; at what age do you introduce a sippy cup? And does it matter what type? I still give him slow flow bottle nipples. I know the sippy cups that I do have there is a ‘rubber slower’ so he doesn’t get a mouth full. Another thing, now that I’m working I don’t have too much expressed milk to spare. Is water okay to put in the sippy every now and then, just to get him used to it?

Its sad that there is such a debate and how ff moms get so almost mean I just went and read the 2 month page and the mom had some very valid points and was just looking for advice and some support and of course ff its perfectly ok my kid is huge and blah I dont understand how little tiny babies can be drinking 5 oz at a time? Another thing I noticed in my month is that almost all the moms are doing rice cereal in the bottle because of reflux i personally know there are other thickening agents out there we used them with my dd when she had severe reflux but anyway…I havent drank any of the tea and he hasnt spit up so it must have been that….

Emilee, many drug stores and grocery stores carry it. Do you have a QFC close? They carry it along with Central Market, Whole Foods, Super Suppliments, and many baby/maternity stores. Do you have a babies r us closeby? Anyways, Fenugreek is great. You need to take about 15 a day for it to really work. It also works best along with Blessed Thistle. Both are in Mother’s Milk tea.

Ok, so I know plenty of you have toddlers as well so I thought you’d all like this one….Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party* 10. There are half-full, brightly-colored plastic cups on the floor in every room. Three are in the bathtub. 9. There’s always that one girl, bawling her eyes out in a corner. 8. It’s best not to assume that the person closest to you has any control over their digestive function. 7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone’s going to start banging on the door. 6. Probably 80% of the stains on the furniture contain DNA. 5. You’ve got someone in your face at 3 a.m. looking for a drink. 4. There’s definitely going to be a fight. 3. You’re not sure whether anything you’re doing is right, you just hope it won’t get you arrested. 2. There are crumpled-up underpants everywhere. 1. You wake up wondering exactly how and when the person in bed with you got there.

kinta- you described to a t what my son used to do..could be a combo of things..my son ended up having reflux..so the pulling off and crying was due to reflux pain and gas..also my letdown is fast..so he would pull off for that reason too..we are on reflux med and hes 9 weeks now so he can keep up with my flow…i know its frustrating!

seuban, i know how u feel to an extent, the doc had to MANUALLY go in and turn my baby while i was in labor, with no epidural or drugs whatsoever! shes been practicing for over 20 yrs and she said its the first time she’s had to do that to someone unmedicated…and not just that, TWICE because the lil stinker turned again after she turned him. i love my doc for being so amazing and not just sectioning me. and now that i think about it, thats prob the most trouble this lil guy has given me lol almost as though i paid my dues in that bout of pain haha.

Laura~ We are in the UK as well, blah! I want to be back in bed so badly, Asher actually slept really well last night but I am still exhausted… And sleeping well for a 7 month old is still waking 3 times in 7 hours…

People don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to baby size anyways. I’m always hearing ‘big boy’ from people. He is in the 5th percentile. I just smile and nod. He’s a little squirt but I’m only 5 foot tall 102 lbs so I wouldn’t expect any thing else.

I’m from Knoxville too. I love the Chattanooga Aquarium! The Ripley’s in Gatlinburg is even better though in you ever get the opportunity to see it. East Tennessee does aquariums right.

danielle- i had mastitis when Delaney was around 2 weeks. it is awful, so painful, and you feel terrible, meds will help with the infection, but in order to relieve the clogged duct you should nurse often and offer that side first, i know how painful it is, but honestly it would be 100 times more painful if you give up on nursing, you will get engorged and it will do nothing to relieve the pain. it will pass, and you will be glad you continued to nurse. next time you notice you are getting a clogged duct (i get at least 1 a month, and its always the same spot) offer that side first, and point your babies chin toward the clog, more suction that way. do hot compress, and massage the clog under a warm flow of water in the shower, you can also pump and massage after feeding to work out any left over milk that might be left near the sore duct. good luck, and just know it will get better, and easier, you are both new at this, its a learning experience for you both. 🙂
