Does anyone know how to get the condensation out of the pump tubing? I don’t even know how it got in there but it’s causing an annoying sound while I’m pumping (it’s not entering the motor or bottles at all–it’s just annoying). Thanks for your help!

I need some help. I’m BF 8 month old Zachai who is also eating solids. I don’t pump because I have no need to as I’m at home with him. He still breastfeeds alot with his meals throughout the day, which is about 3 time in the day then before he goes to bed then even twice in the night. (I know…i’m craving a full nights rest) However, i notice that my milk supply is low…or it feels that way. He sucks forever and i don’t feel the same let down I used to, it take awhile for my milk to come in. And it doesn’t seem to be flowing like before…he used to choke on my milk now it’s like he is sucking the dear life out of me for him to get some? I have not been good with taking the prenatal vitamins as advised to me before, but i will start again, and i haven’ t been the best with drinking lots of water, i’m a juice lover! Is there anything i should be doing? Any advice? I was told to pump as well in between his feedings…will that do the trick?

Hi Ladies, I have a question… My son is only a week old and my bb became really engorged so i pumped to relieve it, and put it in a bottle so he could eat because he wouldn’t latch on. So now Im frustrated because he is preferring the bottle over the bb. Any ideas or suggestions on getting him back to just the bb? Thank you in advance 🙂

Oh, no blisters or cracks yet. I keep checking though. I think it hurts because he’s used to the nipple on the bottles.

anniemarie – There are still some old school doctors out there that think that solids is the way to go. Research has suggested that starting solids early on can lead to diabetes, gast problems and allergies. If your baby is satisfied with the food you are giving then I don’t think his slow weight is due to food rather his metabolism. My son doesn’t weigh much. At 16months he is only 24lbs. Our doctor is fine because Dad is skinny and eats like a horse. My son eats a lot too. Good Luck! Do what you think is right, not just because your doctor said to.

kimberly-i’m so sorry to hear that! i’m very disappointed for you! everyone keeps saying the same thing but are they not hearing how much he’s already eating? i don’t think i’m alone in saying that they’re a little crazy for trying to increase the amount he’s eating…anything over 35oz is quite a bit for a breast fed baby. i finally gave up and just let the stress of how much my little guy weighs go out the window! again he’s just a very lean baby. his head and height are still average, but his weight is just a little less. i’m not very big and his ‘dad’ isn’t either so i’m just gonna let it go. i know he’s healthy, hitting all his milestones, and he’s a very very happy baby! my son lets me know when he’s hungry and eats fine off the breast or bottle. so i’m just going with my mother’s intuition and not adding any solids until 6 months. does your son act like he’s starving? does he cry for more after feedings? when i tired to feed my son earlier than 3 hrs from his last feed w/o him being hungry it was a fight….and he always won! so i would just let your LO lead the way and go with what your motherly gut tells you.

i dont know if its the malted milk or oats or tea but i jus pumped twice as much as i did yesterday and the day before. 3 ounces in one session… Yesterday i was only getting 1.5 ounces from both sides. Wont be long and ill be back to just breastmilk. Thanks girls for all your support and tips on getting my milk supply back.

I’m panicking! I am going to sleep over at my dad’s house tomorrow night, as we have a dawn chorus walk at 4am Sun which I’m really looking forward to. This will be the 1st time I’ve left Ella with daddy overnight, and she’s 17 months now! I’m going to bath her, and get her ready for bed, then breastfeed her, as that’s her routine ’til she falls asleep, then I’ll put her in her cot, and mum will take me to dads so she can stay asleep at home with daddy. I’m worrying about the morning, because I won’t be able to give her her morning breastmilk, and she’s never missed it before! I’m not feeling happy about leaving her. Should I try and pump some for her morning feed? She’s only had 2 bottle feeds in her life! I know she’s older than a lot of babies on here, but I’m really worried!

sweetg – It’s definately alright! I’m 12 weeks right now and still breastfeeding my son. It’s great although laying down is a bit easier since I now have a tummy that he has to curl around. We’ll see how the weeks go. I asked my doctor and she said ‘Great! It’s healthy!’ She was definately happy to see that I was still breastfeeding. She’s awesome, an old hippie. HAHA! I’ve been reading a lot about it. Some women do lose some supply in the second trimester but not enough to make a difference. Also, some babies will self wean in the second trimester because the milk tastes a little different because of the hormones that pass through. Nothing harmful but it’s like when you eat somethting that Baby doesn’t like. Your little one is still very young. Have you gotten your cycle back yet? I didn’t until 9months but I know many ladies here have had it since their little ones were really really little. I ask because it will be harder to get pregnant without a cycle. Of course it could be coming back and you just don’t know it because there isn’t a period as proof. HAHA! Good Luck trying though. It could be fun in the process or it could be like me. My husband and I got pregnant the first month we stopped using condems. HAHA!

annamarie- dont worry and ignore your doctor about the weight. both my kids were light weights and my 2 year old is sometimes smarter then me! and has a huge vocabilary and she was breastfed to a year and at a year she was only 18 lbs 4.5 oz. my son is currently 9 months and he was only 14 lbs 4.5oz at 8 months. my son is a bubbley happy baby and he eats and nurses well. no issues. im not worried as my daughter is proof that even little babies can be intelligent happy healthy toddlers!!

mountainmama – Sorry to say this but she may not be quite ready? Or she may just not like taking it from you. Have you tried letting someone else give it to her? I would first see if she would take it from someone else. She may think, ‘Why take it from a cup with the tap is right there?’
