I gained 34lbs total. Within 4 weeks after birth and with EBF I lose 22lbs. I didnt change my eating habits at all in those weeks so still didnt eat healthy. Once my son turned 4 months (after the holidays) I became very conscious of what I ate so I ate lots of fruits and veggies and just overall ate healthier (no exercise besides stroller walks) and I lost another 20lbs easily in like 2-3 months. The weight literally melted off to the point I was kicking myself for not eating healthier earlier! After that I kind of just plateaued but still eat healthy and havent gained anything back. I recently started exercising regularly so I hope to lose some more weight from that. I definitely credit breastfeeding to the amount of weight I lost since I didnt add exercise at the time. I’ve been on eat healthy diets before but never lost so much so fast.

Well yesterday was my first day w/o nursing. Had to finally pump cuz my boobs hurt so bad. Would have loved to continue but this time the supply before my preriod was so bad that my son kept waking up to eat. I had started introducing whole milk about 3 weeks ago and he doesn’t seem to mind it at all. We almost made it to 12 months, I’ll still pump to wean myself and relieve my breasts but he does great with a sippy so I should be happy. Def. harder for me to stop than him!

I first started using a Lansinoh double electric, then got a medela in style , which i like soo much better, i get so much more out in half the time than i did the lansinoh. and i get more out. I would highly recommend medela pumps.

Im TERRIFIED of losing my supply…. Penelope is12 days old, so should I be worried about this yet… or how do I avoid this?? She feeds for 30-60 mins when she wakes up every 2-5 hours. If she goes 5 hours I’ve leaked thru 2 sets of breastpads and a nursing tank, then when I go to feed (still after 3.5+ hours of not feeding) her its like someone turned on a faucet on with my right side and didnt shut the faucet all the way off on my left. Sorry that I ask so many questions.. I just want to best for my girl!!!!

I think she was so oblivious to the whole process that she didn’t realize what was going on. Did you see their honeymoon episode? Her and Jason talked a lot about the lack of experience they both had lol

PGFirstTimer – Stupid question but why would they be out of the question? Is it just because your guy doesn’t want to do it that way? If you aren’t wanting to get pregnant for a couple of years you can do a non-hormonal IUD. My sister did that with great success. It’s just inserted by your doctor and you don’t have to worry about it. I think you need to go back a few weeks later to make sure it’s in place right but other then that nothing. Then when you do want to start trying again you just have your doctor remove it.

Memedawn – I’m pretty sure I was told I couldn’t donate for 6 months because my body would need that time to heal itself. I only donated once before I got pregnant again. Wish I’d gone one last time 🙁 I would wait ’til 6 months and then not stress about it at all, you should be fine.

To help with early engorgement I took warm soaking baths. That sort of help your breast letdown. Also, I was adviced by my midwife and lc to take ib proffen (I know I didn’t spell that right) to easy the swelling and pain. You can hand express just enough to get comfortable as well. I was adviced against full on pumping though b/c it will make your body think you need that much and instead of regulating to your babies need you regulate to both baby and pump.

Hello my nursing Mommies! QUESTION: DJ cut his first tooth over the weekend and had been biting me! He would bit every now and then even before he got the tooth (which still hurts). I’d yell and he’d cry. I brought it to my LC and she said to end the nursing setion and sign hurt. Well today we had a good nursing setion going and he bit me. He even drew blood. I’m nervous with every feed, which he might sense. I’d HATE to quite BFing because I can’t teach him not to bite! Any suggestions???

mybabysuprise – That’s so funny! I’m not as big as you but with both boys I’ve had to hold my boob for them. I thought it was just me! It’s so cute seeing moms nursing all cuddled up with Baby. I’ve never been that cute nursing mommy! HAHA! But on the bright side, with the size of Alex and the size of my boobs I can nurse laying down with both boobs on one side. HAHA! He lays on his back for my right and rolls over for my left. Means I just sleep on my right side and never have to get up in the middle of the night.
