glad, try massaging your breast(s) while you are pumping. also try looking at a pic of your baby. Both things helped me. I also had to increase my good supply to great just to get enough when i pumped.

yeah i agree that the baby nursing as much as possible vs. the pump will help to build your milk supply. however the method of pumping right after feeds has worked for me. i will say that it took me about a day to be more careful about when he would eat next. i always have at least one full bottle in the fridge of expressed milk incase he’d get hungry right after a pump. now i know when to pump and when not to. again that’s what worked for me, i’m on the go a lot already so it was easier for me to pump more than to take a day or 2 to just nurse as much as possible. if i’m at home during the day i still nurse from the breast, and i always do at night…but if i’m away from him he’s got the expressed bottle. i’m lucky cuz he doesn’t have nipple confusion. i was going to start doing bottles only during the day, but that takes too long. he can eat quicker from my breast.

december – especially since your son is so young you probably shouldnt be around for bottle time. Especially now he should prefer the breast and associate you with it. Thats why they advise the mother not to give the bottle. This is not a bad thing. You want him to want to nurse and not prefer a bottle. So be sure to maintain that association. Even now at 16 weeks I am not in the room when Wyatt gets a bottle.

Oh and can you add pumped milk together?… For example 1oz from one side and 2oz from another placed in a bottle to make 3oz???

13 months that’s awesome! I was disappointed when mine came back as well. Kekoa was 9 months so I’m a bit behind you. I like not having it but oh well. The life of a woman.

What’s even better is when you stop at the store on the way home from work. Then you are having to take trips into the house. HAHA! I hate making trips. I would rather grab it all and make one.

courtenay- that’s so crazy! i just had my first public breastfeeding last week and no one bothered me. i chose to go somewhere a little more quiet and where ppl would really have to work to come up and tell me that it bothered them but it ended up being fine! are you still in the states or did this happen at home? it’s so dumb that ppl get so worked up about it! angela (3girls)–i’m glad you posted the norm amount of oz for bfred babies at about 25. i was so worried that my son wasn’t getting enough and panicing b/c he was only 12.12 at his 4month appt, but since i added at least 1-2 feedings a day he’s already past 13lbs. i’m very happy that i held off on solids, it will come soon enough. i’ve also been nursing full time unless he’s away from me. i love it and it’s been working really really well for us, besides that way i can’t really track exactly how much he’s eating and can’t stress myself out about it!

lovely216 I take 3 tabs of brewers yeast 3 times a day. I also make my own tea that has fenugreek, anise, and blessed thistle in it. Some of the mothers milk teas also have an herb to dry you up. They put it in there I guess so people to get engorged but I haven’t ever had that problem. If you get the tablets any herb store has them or most gnc’s. With those you can take up to 12 a day but it can get pricey but most only need it to get their supply going again. I have heard that the fenugreek + blessed thistle work better as a combo. If you can get up to pumping 25 oz a day you shouldn’t need to use formula. I am assuming you are only pumping.

Brie, my son is almost 19 months and 32in. Yes, I still use my pillow before nap and bed. We are very comfortable in the glider with our pillow. I also love it cause it leaves me hands free to lay back and relax while he nurses or I read a book. HAHA! When we’re downstairs I don’t use it though.

gladek- do you ever feel full? i NEVER do. not even in the morning anymore. i will order the motillium tonight after researching it! I do take fenugreek, brewers yeast and malted milk. there are so many complications i have heard of with formula like thrush (i know you can get nursing too) the poopie diapers smell so bad plus my lo has had some on occasion and doesn’t like it very much. Not to mention the cost!

I will have a drink or 2. Usually after she goes to bed but not always. It leaves your milk like your blood and only about 10% of what you eat actually makes it to your milk.

Any one have any idea why when I pump my nipples hurt really bad, and when i pull the plastic things off my nipples are basically white (not milk) and they have a big ring indented around them.. I have had to basically stop nursing and exclusively pump because although it hurts when i pump its nothing compared to when i nurse. It hurts reaslly bad. Any help/coments would be appreciated.. you can either leave them on my page or here! thanks!
