Starby, this happened to me too! I exclusively pumped from the time my son was 5 wks old due to reflux. It does just wear you out! When he hit 8 months, I had stretched my sessions to every 5 hours and my supply dropped less than half. I too always had wayyyyyyy too much so this was a real surprise. Then I got my period back and bam got pregnant again as well! Ha! So you sound just like me….need to pump every 4 hrs. to keep it up the supply which is def. a drag!

seabird – My son slept through the night until I went back to work. The week I went back is when he started waking. I know it’s not for food but for comfort. He nurses once or twice during the night. He is now a year old. Oh well. I really don’t mind getting up once or twice. It’s the 6times that kill me. HAHA! I do agree there is a lot of information out there and different theories. I do know that sometimes you need to do what you need to do to get your child to eat. Kekoa still isn’t a big eater. I struggle to get him to drink enough of my milk a day.

Just had my baby boy and because of issues I am pumping and feeding him with a bottle. Is breast milk like formula, as far as if the baby’s saliva has touched the nipple/milk, it is not longer good? Or is it okay for another feeding? I have been dumping about 2 full additional feedings per day total and I cannot cut back on what I am giving hi because he is a premie so I need him to at least try to eat what I measure out.

Chrissy-That is correct. Your breasts are NEVER empty. You are constantly producing more milk. The more you supplement, the more your supply will decrease. Everytime you want to give you lo a bottle just put him to the breast. That will give the signal to increase your supply. Giving a bottle tells your body that you DON’T need to increase your supply. We know and understand that this is difficult and it seems like all you are doing is nursing your baby but it does work and it is so well worth it!!!! Good luck!!!

I know BF babies are bigger than formula fed babies, but is it possible to overfeed when you are EBF? Anna will be 4 months on the 20th and everyone says she is so big…she is 15 pounds!

Thats funny that everyone is talking about domperidone, my doc perscribed it for me too, and I had never heard of it or anyone taking it so I was going to come on here and ask people about it. My cousin is in nursing and works at a pharmacy and she said that the dosage the doc perscribed was a little much (3 pills, 3 times a day) So I slowly stopped taking it, but today I feel pretty completely EMPTY! So I am going to refill it tomorrow!!!

Just wondering if anyone has found a birth control they love? Ive been doing research and it seems like all the bc safe for breastfeeding moms have horrible side effects. I know if I don’t get something I will be pg again, and we really cant have another. I can get bc free from my local health dept but my options are limited and the only things safe for breastfeeding moms are kinda long term like mirena or depo. Im too afraid of side effects to use something I cant just stop taking if it has a bad effect on me. Please if anyone has something they are happy with or something to stay away from I would really like to hear about it.

I’ve also read on a bunch of different sites that different tastes in the milk help baby get a taste for other foods when they get older and help not have a picky eater, now I’m not sure that’s true but might be. And that sometimes you can see your babe enjoying the different flavors of the milk. Ethan’s never really had any issues with anything I’ve eaten, I’ve had a great experience with breastfeeding so I’m blessed with that and just hope it continues. So like the other posts just wait and see how it goes with babe with what you eat, you never know could be like when we’re pregnant and they might get a taste for spicy food!!!

I think the instant stuff has been processed and lacks the ‘key’ enzyme or something

mommy: The general rule is an hour per drink, unless your drink was super strong. As long as you don’t feel intoxicated it is safe to nurse. If you want to pump to be on the safe side you can freeze the milk and if it freezes completely then you will know that it is safe for your baby because if it does have alcohol in it it won’t freeze solid. Hope that makes sense! If you want a couple hours after you had the drink to nurse you are more than ok!

BOOMERBABY- If you can’t find that pump locally I know that they carry the Avent Isis Duo Pump online at http://www.breastpumpsdirect.com. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and I ordered the pump I wanted from this site and I had it in a couple of days. The best part is that they offer free shipping on all of their electric pumps so you won’t have to be out of extra money for shipping costs.

angie2008 – My son was in the 95% when born. He is now 17months and in the 50% for weight and 75% for height. His growth slowed to normal. My doctor is fine as long and he still is growing.

Oh and she will only take 2 feeds per day and one through the night. I know thats not enough as she wa feeding 3 hourly with a one morning feed she dropped. She has rice ceral, yoghurt, banana, fresh veges( finger food as she wont eat mashed) and fruit sticks or cheese sticks through the day so is that normal as she is getting so much other food?? She hasnt really been settled since introducing the formula so until she is back to breastmilk only im not sure sh eis taking enough milk.
