Thanks for the input, ladies. I just got off the phone with Zoey’s dad (we’re together, but live an hour and a half apart right now). I think he really resents my breastfeeding and feeding on demand. He’s got 4 year old twins that were on a perfect schedule and Zoey…I just let her do her own thing. She eats every three hours or so…but sometimes more, sometimes less. Her body weight is fine and so why force her onto a schedule? He haaaates it! He just said something about introducing solids next week (when she turns four months) and I was like…well, really, I’d like to lean more towards baby led weaning. And he said something about me ending the breastfeeding @ 6 months…what?? Lol. He said I said that on several occasions. I conceeded I might have set that as a goal in the beginning, when it was really hard, but why would I stop now when she obviously needs and loves it? He thinks she’s too dependant on me. Do you guys think that’s possible? I don’t think a baby can be TOO dependant on their mom. I think he’s just seeing the effects of her not really knowing him, since we only get to see him once a week right now. And I think he’s jealous because when he does come down, she takes a lot of my time. He doesn’t get as many snuggles. And any time we start some ‘grown up time’…she wakes up. It’s like she has a sensor! lol. My sister was watching her for a couple of hours and had Zoey down for a nap, went to the bedroom with her husband (across the house!) and Zoey woke up. lol. I think he blames all of this on breastfeeding and feeding on demand. Sigh. Suggested reading, anyone? I want him to understand there’s no reason to rush her into anything when everything I’m doing makes her feel safe and happy. And, truly. With me, she rarely cries. Once every few days, maybe. And when she does, I figure it out within a minute. Bet he didn’t have that luck with the twins.

lovingmommyof2 – Congrats on your lo and on breastfeeding!… The amount your baby is going seems normal. However, the green foamy part could be indicative of either a dairy sensitivity or a lactose overload. It may be still too early to tell yet as your baby is only 6 days old. I would just keep track. If it is consistently green and foamy, and/or your lo has lots of gas, is fussy much of the time, spits up alot, and is seeming to have lots of tummy pain, then I would be suspicious of the aforementioned issues. Again, your baby is so young yet so if it is just occasionally green and foamy then I would not worry. Btw, in case you didn’t know, lactose overload is usually caused by a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance where your lo is getting too much foremilk. Their little immature digestive systems can’t handle all that lactose and they can end up having all or some of those issues I listed. This can occur when the mom has an oversupply of milk. Anyway, it is so early on for you that I wouldn’t worry yet unless your baby is in obvious pain. Both issues have solutions. Many of the girls on here have worked through either problem. Anyway, here is a link that may be helpful if the green/foamy poop persists: http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/lactose-intolerance.html

coloradomama, it is harder for a baby to get milk directly from the breast than from a bottle. Since she started out on bottles, it is understandable that she is putting up a fuss about breastfeeding. That doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for you yet though. I don’t have experience in this area, but I know some other girls here do, and I also have a dear fried who had a similar situation. Her son refused to latch until he was nearly a month, but now, at 5 months, he is an expert nurser. I say keep trying, don’t give up yet! Good luck.

pg, Thanks! my daughters name is Kate Lynn But we call her KAtiebear! …she’s a darling little thing! …as is her baby brother.

….I have to quit the pumping. my nipple are ruined and beat. my hub is taking kate to a b-day party this weekend and Jonah and I are going to work on getting this figured out. I’ve read so much on ‘don’t force baby to nurse’ or ‘don’t wait them out’ but they got soemthing to say about everything and change it every few months. thoughts? I think I might wait him out when its just us at home

I have been bf for almost 5 months and my hair has been coming out in clumps…is this related???
enumclaws- You joined this forum like 1.5 hours ago and have started off on a negative foot. I come on here everyday and although I don’t agree with EVERYTHING I read i choose to ignore it, just like when it comes to discussing religion or politics. If you have a question about bf you will have an answer in minutes. These ladies have been nothing but helpful to me 🙂
