So, I have to brag a little bit, because I feel like I accomplished something today. We went to downtown Port Orchard, where they were having Harborfest, as well as the farmers market. Levi was hungry, so I put her in the Moby and breastfed her as I walked around. This was a big accomplishment for me, as generally, if I nurse in public I’m sitting and covered. It wasn’t perfect, and I wasn’t 100 percent comfortable with it, but I did it… I know a lot of you do it all the time, but I feel like I accomplished something big today! 🙂

Isaac has radar too! Drives DH (and me sometimes too) crazy, but luckily we’re in this together. Plus honestly anytime I talk about ending nighttime nursing sessions (I get really tired sometimes and feel like I can’t go on. This always passes. Plus I’m a softy and couldn’t really torment my baby that way.) DH freaks out b/c that means he wouldn’t get his eight solid hours of sleep and would actually have to help. Of corse you’re case is a little different b/c your hubby can’t see everything you’re doing. I guess if it were me I’d just tell him as long as it was all my responsiblity then I’ll do what I please. When he moves with you you two can work out what works best for your family. I’m kinda a b*tch like that though.

I have given up on trying to lose weight while BFing. I gained 47lbs during my pregnancy and lost about 27lbs after 3wks PP. Since then I didn’t lose any up until a month ago or so when I started eating super healthy. I lost another 8lbs in a few weeks. After about the 2nd to 3rd week of eating really well my milk supply started to go down so I tried upping my calories (but still eating healthy). It seems to have helped some, but not much. So now I am stagnant on the weight loss and my supply isn’t what it used to be. I have tried Mother’s Milk Tea, Fenugreek and neither worked. Finally I am trying fermented oatmeal and that seems to be helping some. Anyway, I love to nurse and so does Alyssa. She’s 4mo old today and I really want to go to 1yr+. So for now, it looks like these extra 12lbs will be staying with me until I can eat the way I’d like and start exercising, which, by the way I can’t really do right now because of my schedule. I work full-time and so does my finace but we alternate schedules. He works at night while I’m home with the baby and I work in the day while he’s home with the baby. By the time she’s down for the night I’m up doing other chores and getting ready for the next day and I only really get a moment to myself by around 10pm or so. The only time I could go work out is around 4am but that’ll cut into my sleep and I’m afraid that too will then start to hurt my supply. *sigh* sorry for the long vent, just needed to get it all out. In the bigger scheme of things, 12lbs of extra weight is nothing compared to the benefits both me and bub are getting… not to mention the bond! Ok, rant over!

it’s true. some babies only take from one. mine did until recently but now that he knows he has control over which one he likes to flip flop. i think he is trying to keep himself from falling asleep at night. he’s so spoiled he smells, but i like the smell.

seuban0 – I wear a ErgoBaby. I love it, especially for my big guy. I go on daily walks with the boys. we go to the park with it, the grocery, mall and even the beach. You name it, we’re wearing it. Even when he won’t go to sleep. I’ve resorted in walking around the house with it until he falls asleep. HAHA! Best purchase I’ve made this time around.

deeyore – I am a freak for nursing past a year as well. My mom is a nurse, you would think she would be supportive. Since she nursed us for a year or less, I’m doing something different and therefore wrong. It reminds me of a George Carlin quote from a long time ago: ‘Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?’ I swear that is how I think alot of people are with breastfeeding – we are the ‘maniacs’ or ‘breastfeeding-nazis’ for going beyond a year haha!

Colorado, try a hospital grade pump. and in the mean time they have a little tube that u can tape right along ur boobs that ends at ur nipple. she gets the formula or breastmilk through the tube, but it keeps the association of boobs=food going until u get ur supply boosted.

Bri argh I’m just so frustrated. I’ve also figured out that bf makes me so hungry and I don’t know why but I crave sugar. I’ve started exercising but only 10 mins a day. Guess I need to kick it up. I’m totally po’d cause I just read that cherries are in the dirty dozen and you should only eat organic cherries while nursing cause pesticides are passed thru breast milk! No good. I have eaten at least 2 pounds of cheeries a week since the season has started.

I had horrible ear infections growing up. I loved laying on a heating pad. The heat felt like the infection was just pouring out of my ear. I know that sounds weird but it’s a little girl thinking. I also had that thought with growing pains. Push the pain to the tip of your toe and out. Never knew about the rock salt though. It helps to draw the infection out quicker.

oh i’m so grouchy today. my boobs hurt. isaac chose last night to only wake once and then he didn’t seem interested this morning at all. i’m just a little more than engorged and i have to open these heavy sheilds at work that requires me to lean against with my breast. geez, isaac couldn’t have picked a worst time to do this to me. on a happy note, maybe he’s turning a corner and will start sleeping more. i don’t know but i hope.
