lilmamamads, I learned that a couple of weeks ago. I never drink coffee, and the one day I did, my son just wouldn’t sleep. I’ve never seen him awake for such a long time as that day. Can’t remember what time he finally went down that day, think it was near midnight, and he’d been up since 9am! So no more coffee for me…..

act004 – Here is a website that suggests that, unlike bottle feeding, nursing while laying down doesn’t cause ear infections: http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/ear-infection-nursing.html (sorry, I don’t know how to add it properly)

So Alex is going through the nice little phase of eating, pulling off to laugh at me or brother and then going back. Because the milk is stored inside you (not in the breast) the play is making it move into the breast and killin’ me. HAHA! I’ve had to pump several times when he does this. Crazy little guy! Oh well, like everything else, this too will pass. I do love the smiles when he pulls off. He’s really getting the good feeds at night and before nap. This I’m not too thrilled about. I’ll start seeing about getting the good meals going during the day soon. He’s still young and growing so much that I don’t want to mess with success. Being home is much easier to handle these things this time around.

Ash – Zoey’s almost 14 weeks now. She’s asleep on my chest and all I can think is there’s no way she’d fit back in my belly now! lol. Enjoy every moment!

I gave natural birth and bf. the whole time i was pregnant everyone told me how impossible it was to give natural birth. we’ll i managed that and then all anyone ever said is once you go back to work or once he gets teeth you’ll stop nursing. one of my dh coworkers gave him to cans of powder formula to give in ‘just in case’. we’ll now isaac has two front teeth and i’ve been back to work full time and he will be 1 in two weeks and i’ve never even had to think about opening the formula. did i have a couple of weeks here and there that i was worried i wouldn’t be able to pump enough? sure, but i keep pumping and thawing extra supply and come friday i’ve always had enough. i think taking each week at a time has helped. so frustrating to here all of the negitive talk instead of support.

sydneemay2009 – I think you should be fine with that. Along with a healthy diet would be good. After a year when the cup is given more often the milk is sometimes second on the list.

puddin- personally, i would throw it away. it’s just a weird thing with me. but definitely smell it! according to kellymom.com you can use it for the next feeding if necessary. i’ve heard that bacteria can grown in it once baby’s mouth touches it. here’s the link so you can look for yourself. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/reusing-expressedmilk.html

I would look it up myself but I’m on my cell… Does anyone know how many calories a 1 year old requires in a day? Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice ladies! Gabriel’s eating about every 3 hours, but I think I’ll take the advice and not risk the alcohol not clearing in time. I’m one of those people who have a 2 beer tolerance at any point, so not drinking is no big deal. Looks like I need to do more research on birth control now. I was thinking about the Implanon, but it seems Paragard might be a better option.

Jessica-I have been told its 6 months or later if your ebf baby doesnt need any other nutrients till a year I believe…Dixie- Some womens breasts change others dont you will be able to nurse. It doesnt matter if they grow or not. Bri-I have been looking into the Ergo or the Mei Tai would you say the Ergo is totally worth it?

It’s not weird to me. I work full time, so when I have time to be with my son that’s where I’d prefer to be. If there is going out to be done, I just take Isaac with us. About once every four to eight weeks, I will indulge my husband with dinner alone, just the two of us, but I’m on edge the whole time. So much so we now have just started meeting for lunch once a week, so we can have some adult time together. I’m much more relaxed that way and enjoy myself more.

Casen – There are many reasons. One is usually because your child has been eating all day and your body hasn’t been able to replenish as much. Also, your body has been working all day for it’s own daily needs so it’s just tired. Morning is usually the best because your body has rested and your baby usually doesn’t eat as much over night. I know it’s frustrating. Try to eat a little bit more in the late afternoon to help give your body the extra calories it needs to produce milk. You should be fine. Eventually your body will catch up.

Thanks ladies. I’m still concerned she isn’t eating enough because she is hungry, but wont eat from me. She will act hungry then when I try and feed her she will start screaming and fight the nipple. I just don’t get it. I never had this issue with my son and I don’t want to have to pump and then give her a bottle right away. If it was just one day, then I wouldn’t worry as much, but it has been at least a week now and she is only 4 weeks old.
