I like that Emilee!! I often nurse when I’m out but usually it’s in my car. I nursed for the first in public last weekend while we were at the mall and it was very uneventful. I wasn’t nervous at all and I’m proud of myself for that. I used a cover, but the folks sitting around me knew exactly what I was up to. Luckily no one batted an eye or leered or anything. Funny thing is… they were all men. lol 🙂

2NDTIME-Have I mentioned my kid is rotten? I think his shrieking is funny and I just out do him with my own shrieking which he thinks is funny and will in turn try to out do me. We keep the game up until he bores of it. Like I said so rotten he smells but I like the scent! Also I’ve noticed if we are out in public and he does it and I do a queit retort his volume goes down to meet mine. He bores quicker of the quiet shriek game. You might try that. It might end her game sooner if you are giving her the attention she wants.

Good evening… I just gave birth 2 days ago to a little girl at 32 weeks 5 days…. I am pumping for her while she is in the NICU… I am pumping every 2 to 3 hours around the clock… So far, I know it is only colostrum, but I have managed to get her the 2 teaspoons she needs each feeding and I am getting a little more each time… My problem is that it has only been 2 days and my nipples are beat to hell… they are huge, dry, cracking and very painful.. I dont know how much longer I can deal with this. I want to do what is best for her, but I am in a lot of pain… Will it go away as I do it more? Is there anything I can do to help it out? I have some cream that the nurse gave me, so I am using that… I just don’t want to give up, because I know it will help her grow, and keep her healthy until she is well enough to come home

Emilee, you’re not weird. Chris is 32months and I STILL haven’t left him. I was away one night (he stayed with Dad) after I had Alex. I don’t go out at night. My MIL will stay with him while I have appointments or whatnot but I never go out to bars. But, I’ve also been breastfeeding non-stop for how many years too. I’m also ‘the weird one’ in my family. We all breastfeed but my sisters weaen shortly after they turn one. They don’t see the benefits from it. Blah! I guess when my child continues the legacy at MIT and their’s go to state schools I’ll show them. HAHA! I know that’s a little extreme and spiteful, but funny. My FIL graduated 3rd in his class at MIT, that’s why I used that school. Also, with Chris I worked so anytime I had off I wanted to spend that with my son. This time Alex just won’t let me leave and I’m fine with that.

lexi- i ate it 3 times a day, everday, for about 2 weeks. You probably don’t have to eat it for that long, as i started to see improvement in about 2 days, but i wanted to keep it going ’cause i was pumping a lot at the time.

lilmamamads, Braeden is definitely an agressive nurser. He bites all the time – I’ve tried everything to get him to stop with no luck, he kicks, hits, pinches, grabs fistfuls of boob and twists. I hold his hand now when he nurses so that he can’t do it, but that doesn’t stop him from kicking, and twisting around in every direction to see things. The world is just a far too interesting place to be expected to stay still at this age! I have to say, I am very worried about what’s going to happen when he gets teeth. As one of my friends said, who’s son recently got his bottom teeth, I’m afraid once he has both top and bottom, he’s going to bite my nipple right off!

I squirt the boys, and the hubby, on purpose! If I am nursing Zach and Ayden starts messing around with him, I just do a quick squirt to get back at him. 🙂 For a while he was asking to nurse all the time, but can’t figure it out anymore, so I was squirting it into his mouth for him. Hubby always gives me a hard time about being able to squirt it at the boys, so I turn it on him and can get him across the room! My mom will tell stories about doing it to us, so you have to pass on the privileged, right? 😀

you should. my ped won’t separate out the mmr (which is actually three vaxes in one) and that’s b/c they are live viruses and have a short shelf life, but all others she has separate. It means Isaac will get more pokes than other babies but less vaccines at one time. If he reacted badly I would at least ask next time he needs the boosters.

thanks everyone. and Marli- I too seem empty at the end of the day, she usually has to eat for a longer amount of time, but lately, I have had bm stored so I have been pumping at night and giving her bm in a bottle.

jessica- i’m not entirely sure why they say it, but in your case you still have to pump to relieve pain because you are pumping. if you stopped pumping, you wouldn’t make that extra milk and you’d be fine without it. now, if you want the stored milk then that’s fine to keep pumping, but the reason you still have pain and engorgement is the pumping. Also, if the only time you’re pumping is to relieve the pain and that’s it then your stored milk will probably only be foremilk.

god-iva, FB is very picky about what breast feeding pics they allow. Not exactly sure what guidelines they might have, but some of my friends have been able to get pics up and stay up, but then others have them removed.

The charts are based on FF babies, which is why I don’t take them seriously. I will hop onto Kellymom and look at the BF boy chart if I really am curious, but even then, I don’t put too much stock in it. The charts are just too generic and some babies just don’t fit the mold. As long as baby is happy and healthy and growing at their own pace, then everything is fine. Its all just how baby was built!
