ok so i spoke with the lactation people today. they recommended fenugreek. however i live in a really small town and i dont know where to get it! if they have it at walmart we are in business but as for health food stores we have none. any suggestions? i eat oatmeal everyday already and it hasnt done anything. i finally got a full ounce this morning. but it has been about 2 days since the last time i got that amount. but seeing as i have to tell everyone my son is 3 pounds 5 ounces now! (he was born nov 2nd at 2 pounds 8 ounces)

Sorry, I know this isn’t about breastfeeding and I won’t post again about this, just wanted the share the site I had mentioned, it’s afullcup.com and I created a group for everyone from here so I can help you with that site if you need it (It’s a couponing website). Just send me a message on here with your username on there and I’ll add you!

3rd Timer: At 13 months you can give your little one cows milk instead of formula. No need to giove formula past 12 months.
Not sure about self weaning as we are only 5 months into breastfeeding but with my other 2 kids they went from formula to cows milk after 12 months.

My son is 11 weeks old now, and we are doing great with breastfeeding!! When he was first born, he was having trouble latching on and sucking enough to get milk out. So I used a nipple shield. I am happy to report that we are no longer using the nipple shield!! I basically used it for every feeding for 10 weeks. And then last week, he just latched on without it. I didn’t have to ‘wean’ him off the shield at all. He is now eating off my bare breast!! I am so happy about that. It is so much easier to feed him now. I highly recommend the nipple shield to anyone having trouble breastfeeding. I don’t think I would have had the success I did without it. I haven’t had to supplement at all.

I pump every morning just so I can have extra milk if I need it. I try to pump before he wakes up, and I can get at least 5 oz. Sometimes I pump on one breast while he is eating on the other, then switch. I like to have that extra milk to take with me if I am out shopping or running errands. It is so much easier to just stop and feed him with a bottle, then head to the car or dressing room or bathroom to feed him. I am so happy I made the decision to breastfeed! I love every minute of it!!

My LO is almost 10 weeks old. I was never able to BF but I pumped and gave it to him in a bottle. I didnt have an electric pump and had to use a manual one. Needless to say I gave up after 2-3 weeks. Well I am in the process of re-lactating to try and BF again (he has a sensitivity to formula). Any tips?

I didnt bf but I did get those rashes in the few months after delivery. Everytime I have a baby I sweat more often until my hormones level off and I think that has something to do with it. I also found that I wore a bra more often and that just added to it and if the bra gets a bit wet from your milk that will also lead to it since it is moisture (())

mylittleman- I’m using Medela nursing bras. I like them and the nursing pads do not show. My BBs are huge so anything that can hold me in and not make me look like I have bb’s on my belly button works for me! haha. Good luck. :O)

For all you Mom’s out there that are pumping at work, on an average day, how much do you pump when at work for a regular 8 hour shift?

Now I am going to worry that my freezer supply is bad. I will make sure to smell it every time!

kathy – I don’t think feeding him solids would affect your letdown. It was probably because you were so tired, and likely anxious that he was up so much. It always amazes me how any anxiety at all can affect your letdown. I always have to close my eyes and take a deep breath. Try that. Good luck!

My LO is 5 mo. When I am at work I give the babysitter two 5 oz bottles and one 4 oz bottle (all that i can pump in a day). She gets no solids as of yet. Does that sound like enough food? She doesn’t seem to be gaining weight very fast. My hubby weighed her two weeks ago at 13.4. We weighed her last night and she was only 13.6. I am always worried about my supply as most of the time my breasts feel empty in the evening.

thanks bri. he very rarely gets a bottle anymore, and drinks very well out of a sippy cup, and can drink out of a regualr cup if i hold it. part of the needing to wean quickly is because of the pill. its a little selfish, but i dont like to use condoms, so its either do it quickly and get on a new pill, or do it slow and use condoms. i love breastfeeding my son, and it makes me sad that its almost over. i have to go back to work jsut before he turns a year. i know its possible to work and pump, but his dad is going to have to do bedtimes, and as it is, he needs me for it. i know he can go longer than 4-5 hours without milk, but id rather give him more milk than solids. my mom and husband watched him while i went for a course. i gave them specific instructions on when he gets milk/solids. at 8 in the morning after feeding him, and didnt get hom until after 3. in that whole time, they didnt give him any milk, just solids. when i got home, my mom had jsut given him a snack, so he didnt want milk. i didnt get him to drink until 5!
