phatbaby57 – I love love love my Ergo. I bought it because Alex was getting so darn big that it was hurting my back. It works great! We haven’t worn him on the back yet but it is good for 2 years and up to 40lbs.

Lawson-I know you were going to prescribe to baby led weaning, but perhaps you could start trying to introduce some solids. I know she is still a bit young yet, but if you were willing to try formula, I wouldn’t think solids would be any worse. At any rate I think I would try solids before formula anyhow. Just a thought.

styx – Many of us PMS without actually getting periods. Around the same time for the past couple months I’ve been irratable and depressed. I just want to go hide in bed and not do anything. Of course I can’t with two little ones around. No periods yet. Although last month I did feel cramps. I don’t remember this last time but I could have just ignored it and passed it off as something else.

ella-one of the things i heard that really put fast food in perspective for me is too compare it to convenient store food. would you go into a gas station to buy your dinner? i know i never really considered gas station food ‘real’ food. now i just think of anything with a drive through in that light. i’ve never been much on drive through though and normally the only reason we (i say we b/c i wouldn’t but dh loves the stuff) would go through is if we were in a hurry to get somewhere and didn’t have time to stop. well funny we always have time to feed isaac b/c no way is he eating that crap plus i’d have to feed him strapped in his carseat while we were driving…talk about a choke hazard. anyhow having isaac has really nipped it in the bud for trips. we have to stop now and stop somewhere that carries appropriate food for him. can’t say that i mind but i think dh gets a little frustrated about it sometimes.

jepica19, give it more than two days. You start off not being able to pump much, but as you continue demanding the supply, it will increase. I watched a breast feeding video and the nurse ‘hosting’ the video had nursed her twins. She was talking about pumping and said that the best time to pump was after the first three nursing sessions of the day and to not be alarmed when you only pumped .5oz for the first four to five days. Said that eventually, that will go up…for her she started very small in output, but was able to start pumping a few oz after each session. Its all supply and demand, so the more you demand, the more your body supplies. 🙂

kelley, you pump after nursing, and you always have milk. Your body starts working on replacing it the second it leaves your breast, so there is always something. Even if baby wants to nurse ten seconds after you pump, she will still have milk. The amount you need to pump is related to how many hours you will be gone, not how old baby is. Baby needs 1-1.5oz per hour you are gone, so if you will be gone three hours, leave 3oz behind for her.

LAWSONS- How many times do you eat the oatmeal? Just in the morning? Or do you have a second batch at some point during the day? So funny, I couldn’t wait to pump again either, lol! I felt like coming out of my little storage closet showing everyone my milk, haha! I had to call my Mom who’s watching DJ and tell her, so silly!

Funny (non-BF related) story – Last night, I was sitting with Zoey on her dad’s bed, going through her diaper bag. I found her first ultrasound the other day and stuck it in my bag to show him because it made me smile. She was such a little nugget…(I was 12 weeks)….and her head was already huge! lol. Anyway. I pulled it out and held it out and he went white. I was like…Look…Zoey’s first ultrasound pics! He practically fell over and said he thought I was trying to tell him something! LOL! I have an IUD, but I sent him a text about a week and a half ago confirming I wasn’t pregnant (he had no idea I wondered) because I was just feeling weird. And he’s been weird about where he finishes since then. I wonder how long he’ll avoid sex all together since I accidentally traumatized him with the ultrasound pics!

god-iva – I agree that there are many women out there that don’t BF beause they’re not well informed, but not ALL mothers FF because of this reason. Some really can’t for a lot of different reasons. As far as being afraid of not producing, I was one of those girls that went through that immediately and, it wasn’t as simple as you put it. We went through a very scary situation with Alyssa. Her pedi had us coming in to weigh her every day for a few days then twice a week, then once a week until our situation improved. I did have to supplement with FF a few times then we were full on nursing after that. I think my determination to nurse her is what got us through. It broke my heart to have to suplment FF her but was either do that or let my child go hungry – literally. So kudos for you if you had it that easy – not all of us do.

CIO – I shudder at the thought! It breaks my heart to think of any baby crying and no one there to help him/her. Rather I should say there IS someone there to help, but refuses (which is worse I think). We let Alyssa fuss about in her crib if it seems like she’s just trying to go back to sleep but once she yells out for us where there in a heart beat… let alone crying. IDK…. I know everyone has their own parenting styles but leaving a baby to CIO just seems very sad. =\

jessicalynn21 – Is he on solids? It could be just too much for his tummy to handle right now. If it’s just breastmilk then I’m just going to say that some babies are like that. My first only poo’d once a week for six months. Do the poo sit, massage, bicycle the legs. As for giving him. You can try diluted prune juice but I’m one for not giving in to that route unless all other options are out. good luck.
