My doctor recommended a lubricant called Astroglide. It does have a different texture then KY. It seems a little more, well wet, then gelly. It helps if your partner puts some in you along with on himself.

Balsamfir- Oh, I just noticed that you said your milk has HIT/OVER the 24hr mark. But to be honest I have used thawed milk around the 30hr mark. I recommend doing a sniff test first though and what you’re comfortable with. You can always mix in a little fresh cold (not warm) to the cold thawed milk.

there are alot of people who abuse the system that is true. but thats due to a government thats too busy or too lazy to do the standard investigations into peoples actual home lives. but there are people who truly need and deserve help who cant get it beccause they make 8.00 an hour as a clean cut single parent and go to school. its very sad…….sorry i know this is the breastfeeding room!

My big baby boy is now 2 weeks 6 days (he weighed 10lbs 5oz at birth!!) and breastfeeding like a pro! I have been pumping a little bit in order to give him a bottle every once in a while when he is babysat. Yesterday my mom was feeding him and he HELD THE BOTTLE ON HIS OWN for 20 seconds or so!!! It was only his 3rd time feeding from a bottle! He is so strong… I am assuming this is not normal for a baby this young!! When I BF him, he grabs my boob with both arms/hands and stuffs it in his mouth. He also does this with our hands/fingers… he’s just crazy!! So cute…

god-iva – They make liners (like panties) that are a barrier to you and your stuff. They still leak though. It is about money. As for EC, I think it’s an interesting idea but only if you have lots of time and can predict how your baby will react to it. My first doesn’t care if he is in a wet diaper and will run away instead of getting changed. My second hates being wet so if Alex was my first I might try it. I’ve known babies to be potty trained before a year but usually they are girls and first children with SAHMs. Moms that work just don’t have the time or energy to do EC and daycares won’t do it either. I can’t predict when my children will go either so it’s hard to be able to get them to the potty before they need to go. Good luck if you try it

Leslie, sorry about the supply issues. It’s just another obstacle to get over and once done you’ll be a stronger nurser. Just think next time (if you and Kerri decide to do it again) you’ll be just more experienced. Hopefully the house will sell soon. I’m crossing my fingers for you.

Double, you can have diet coke but I wouldn’t. Not that this is new but the sweeteners in diet soda are just not good for anyone. They are now saying that plain sugar is better then the sweeteners. I know you are very good about your food intake and honestly I can’t see you wanting to ingest that stuff. I know I don’t. I’m addicted to regular soda though so I’m no saint here. I’m trying to limit my soda intake. I don’t buy it so unless I’m out I don’t have it. So this is less then one a day. I used to have several a day.

bri that stinks! i hate that feeling. i guess im lucky i havent had to deal with sore nipples this time, except for maybe a week or so in the beginning? cant even remember. …………….phatbaby, my daughter was kinda like that. she was obsessed with snacks and not so much with meals. so what i did was quit buying the junk and bought her fake junk. by that i mean that i went to a store like whole foods and bought organic snacks made with wholesome ingredients. i used that to kind of transition her back to eating meals. and it all had to be done quite discreetly because for her it was more about being defiant and asserting herself than it was about the actual food. i coudlnt ever say ‘hey try this’ or ‘ you have to eat this’ because she would just shut down. so what hubby and i would do is sit down to dinner and just rave about how amazing the food was without offering her it or anything. she eventually got interested in it on her own terms. shes 2 and a half now and she is such an amazing eater. shes willing to try pretty much everything, eats a well balanced diet, and is finally putting on weight fast (and of course getting taller-she has always been so tall!)

Bri, it just meant that he grew up faster. He started sleeping in his own twin sized bed about the same time he weaned and then potty trained himself at 18mo. He really wasn’t a baby long, always trying to do what his older cousins were doing! I will admit that I wasn’t too upset about the potty training deal, and he does still climb into our bed, but once he saw the big boy bed he refused to sleep anywhere else. (Now he would love to only be in mommy’s bed, but since he wanted his own bed, he is going to stay in his own bed while visiting our bed in the early mornings.) Yesterday we took them to an amusement part and he went on all the big rides and love it. No rinky-dink merry-go-round for him!

When is the best time to pump? I’m afraid that I will start producing more than my LO needs and then be sore all the time, but I need to start building a supply for when I start back to work. Help!

Starting the mini pill tomorrow, this one has a 12 hour window not the normal 1 hour window. Really don’t want to end up with 3 under 3, so hope I don’t fall pregnant on it again.

lawsons- when I feed him I have been doing it without a shirt on, and I had just fed him most of his bottle then took it away and put him to the breast and I think I kind of tricked him in a way. He sucked for a moment then realized it wasnt a binky or a bottle. lol. He was almost asleep when I did it.
