Brie- it really just depends on each person when AF comes back. My lo is 8.5 months old and I haven’t gotten it back, but my sister got hers back at 6 months. Some women get it back right away and some not until they add solids. It truly just depends on the woman…hope this helps =)

baby_dunham, I agree with jess0402, your best advice is to put up with the searing pain – IT WILL GET BETTER!! When my Penny was born, I thought breastfeeding would be a breeze, as she’s my sixth, but that first week or two my nipples were SO SORE and bfing was really painful. I got mastitis too. But a few days of serious pain has been followed by months of very satisfying nursing. So hang in there. Watch for signs of infection, and take paracetamol if you need to, for pain.

I was just wondering if any mom’s in here are breastfeeding an older baby (1-2+yrs). I plan on nursing my son until at least 12 months but I was just wondering why one would continue on after the first birthday and if there were health benefits to it? I’m not knocking it, just curious…

felicia marie-any chance you can spring for a ticket for your husband or a friend to bring the baby with? You already have a hotel room, and the baby flies for free 🙂 My son has flown several times with no problems….

torybailey – It is said in the beginning when you are engorged and trying to build supply that you shouldn’t put pressure on your boobs. This can effect supply. It’s the same with a tight bra and underwires. But, after months of nursing you shouldn’t have a problem with supply and sleeping on your tummy.

….. So my milk never actually came in.. but this past week I am starting to leak which didn’t even happen when I was pregnatnt or when he was first dorn (my son is almost 6 weeks old)… I tried BFing for 2 + weeks… is it possible that MAYBE i would possibily be able to build up a lil bit of a supply?

phatbaby there are many reasons milk can change color I would still use it if I was you. You have antibodies from being sick as well as the shot so go for it.

Just wondering- I’m not giving my 3 week old bottles yet. But when I do, how do you heat up the breastmilk, and how warm should it be???

Overall, my milk supply has been pretty good. But after thanksgiving I kept wondering why my milk more than doubled. I was waking up with my gowns soaked at night and on the days I work, I leaked thru my scrub top a couple of times. Well I finally figured out that it was because I was drinking egg nog during the thanksgiving holiday and a few days after, lol. I figured this out the day before yesterday when I was reading a previous post on this board. I have been wanting to increase my amount that I pump so I drank egg nog yesterday and, bam , the same thing happened. I think it is a trip, I never new that eggnog increased your breastmilk. What ingredient in the eggnog does it?

havinghisbaby – I had to pump often when my daughter was born. I only got drops of colustrum too. My milk took 5 days to come in. Like the other ladies said, those little bits of colostrum are so nutrient/immunity-packed and important for any baby, but even more so for your sweet little preemie. Keep up the good work!

Also, your body will try and hang on to some fat for reserves….just in case. But it sounds like you are doing it right. I know it sucks though. Eating a lot is normal. At first I am not hungry at all and then all of a sudden I get starving at like a month or two. Blah! It’s already starting to hit. I’m trying to curve that feeling. I know I’m not starving so I have a glass of water. HAHA! It’ll come off eventually.
