Jen do you have any of those freezer packs that you use to keep milk cold when traveling with? If so maybe put those around the milk and keep an eye on things. I would be afraid the snow didn’t keep cold long enough or maybe pack a bunch of snow in zip locks and stick in the freezer too. If there is room I might would even start making ice and dumping those in bags so you can put those in the freezer too. I would think you could keep your freezer colder longer then a cooler if the power does go out. Best of luck and stay warm

Hi Ladies, My LO is 3 months old and has been slepeing through the night since she was about 5 weeks. Up until now, I’ve been getting up in the middle of the night to pump but now since i’m back to work, I don’t wan to anymore. Of course when I wake up, my breasts are engorged and all, will this eventually go down some and my body will stop making so much milk overnight? Will not pumping at night cause a drop in my supply?

seabird yes you can. Just make sure baby takes all of it because the rules would stand for the older milk not the fresh.

Dulci – I got my period after 6 weeks as well. My OB didnt push the pill at all because he said they all had side effects to a certain extent on lactation and the ones that didnt werent as effective as the other. We use condoms. That was only one doc’s opinion though so I’m sure there are other options. They were also trying to push the IUD on me so who knows.

gladek- I dont know that i could get myself up to pump. I have to be up at 5:00 as it is to take care of the dog, myself and baby and be out the door by 7:00. My body needs rest or i just can’t function. If I didn’t have to work I could do it no problem. Oh how I long to not have to work……

A baby poop question: My LO (6months) has been an infrequent pooper since about 3 months old. He’s never been constipated, just had a big normal messy poop every 3-6 days. Well, he’s been on solids for almost a month now (still nursingthe same, never had formula, and just a couple oz of food a day) and its worse! He just pooped last night after 8 days without. Its a bit thicker now that he’s had solids, but still not anywhere near dry and constipated. Do any of your babies go this long? My doctor she read it can be normal, but had never seen it in a patient (she is nice, but a young doctor).

Compared to feeding baby formula and solid food, breastfeeding is anything but messy! ?? Baby latches on, burps, all done. No bottles to wash or spills to wipe up. I’m really not sure what you mean, jess0402.

torimili – My goal was to BF for 12 months. I can only nurse in the mornings and pump about 3-4 times at work plus before bed and once in the middle of the night to maintain my supply – Very exhausting buts thats just how its been for the last 9 1/2 months. At 12 months I am going to knock out one pump at a time and just see what happens. Hopefully my supply will be maintained for at least the morning feeding but I will go from there. I dont mind all the pumping for now, but its nice to know there is an end in sight.

Mrs. Lucky, I wouldn’t worry too much about having a few drinks.. I have a few beers a couple times every month. When I went to the beach a few weeks ago I had 2 daquaris and still nursed and he didn’t even get sleepy from it..

If Im ONLY breastfeeding…when is it normal to get a period?? I thought I read that it would come around 6 months…but then I read that it could be 6 weeks….my son is 6 weeks now!
