I have a 17 month old that still nurses similar to that. I work during the day so during the week he nurses once in the morning as we wake, as soon as we get home in the afternoon, right before bed and the at least once normally 3-4 times during the night. During the weekend he nurses for nap and anytime he gets hurt or frustrated or bored.

nickknack04 – some babies spit up more than others. Their little digestive systems are new and are developing, mine is a lil spit up machine, lol. but you shouldnt give him cereal. babies this little cant digest things like that, unless for some reason its advised by your doctor, dont give your baby anything but breast milk, or formula . as long as they have wet and poopy diapers, gaining weight…they are good to go.

suzmBLUE! – i would suggest pump at LEAST 4x per da y after each feed. as soon as your milk comes in. cause one your little one is done feeding, you can trick your body into thinking it has to make more milk, therefore what you pump can be froze 🙂 i would do my pumping sessions during the day, never got up after the night feeds to do it. Good luck! And i agree with your comment about not much activity on here anymore! When i had my middle child in 2009, there was soooo much talk on here, now it seems like posts here & there but alot of spammers 🙁

brandyq sounds like to me you have a clogged duct. I used to get them a lot. You need to pump and pump and pump. I would pump for about 30 minutes and massage the entire time. You will know as soon as it becomes unclogged. Immediately it feels better. thats the only thing that helped me.

lilli – I didn’t mean to get you nervous, obviously if your milk is good and doesn’t smell or anything it should be ok. Everyone’s milk is different and b/c of that is effective differently. I know there is at least one person here whos milk only has a 24 hour shelf life period. She can’t even freeze it. My milk seems to stay good forever. I can put it out in fresh air for 8 hours or more (never tried longer). I can keep it in the fridge for a week and in the freezer for 4 months and still have it come out good. It is all different.

Yeah Heather I think it’s just you too…HAHA! I hate oatmeal. I’ve never liked so having the same taste only chewier sucks. I’ve learned to chase it with apple juice. Swish it all in my mouth and I don’t need to chew it. HAHA!

my daughter was born five days ago and when it comes to feeding she does great but she wants to eat like every two hours and whenever she wakes and sometimes she seems like she is satisfied but then she won’t sleep and then she wants to eat an hour later how do your know you are giving them enough I counted the diapers she is like behind by two wet diapers is it a good idea to supplement until my milk is full force?

lilli1317 – Congrats! I was like you and had one problem after another. I could imagine giving formula but couldn’t imagine continueing at the pace I was going. Well…..Kekoa is 13months, almost 14 and still going strong! Keep it up! It’s well worth it. Oh and I work too. It sucks but what can you do?

As for the drops. Our milk hasn’t ‘evolved’ since the days when we were always outside. Since our babies were always outside they got plenty of vitamin D. Now that we keep them from the sunlight and especially the cold winter air they don’t get the sun exposure. Enfimil makes two drops…poly and tri. Poly vi sol is a multivitamin and what we have recently started Kekoa on. It is a little harsher and tastes funnier. Tri vi sol actually tastes good and is what is recommended to breastfeed babies. It is only A B and D. If you can’t find it in the stores go to Enfimil’s website. Kekoa likes to the taste of it!

december08babyboy – It might be too fast or slow. It should even out. Just keep working on it. Congrats on the little one by the way. I can’t wait to have another.

Crystal907 – I tried to use on in the hospital but I needed ten pairs of hands to keep it on. It didn’t work for us but I’ve heard that it works for many. I have also heard that if you use it too long you supply can drop so wean your child off of it as soon as you can.

Thanks Bri.. I hope everything works out ok! Hopefully we don’t lose power. If not, I will be a busy girl trying to keep my milk frozen. I have like 50 oz frozen and I don’t want it to go bad!!

I was at church yesterday and I had to go in the cry room (a room mommies to go into when their baby starts crying, so they wont interupt church..its a sound proof room w/mirror so you can still see whats going on in church and you can still hear the pastor preach) well there were 5 mommies in there including me and all of them except ME was BF their child. It made me sad. I wish he would BF bc when he does he feels alot better than when he drink formula! For the past week Brody hasnt been wanting to BF. Jan 30-Feb 5 he stopped BF but then he started BF again but now he’s stopped once again and Idk why!! The last time he stopped bc I was eating veggies that gave him gas but I dont eat them anymore. I havent had my period since Feb 17, 2008 and I think he’s teething but Idk if that’s why he’s not BF. Any suggestions? How can I get him to BF? And why do you think he’s not BF?

Armymom – I couldn’t either. It is easier now that he’s older but now that he’s 25lbs I can’t do anything but sit. HAHA! When he was younger God me if I was without my boppy. HAHA! Now I can lay him over my legs crossed legged and he’s good to go. He also holds my boob so I can read or type. I can’t walk around though. Never have, maybe next time when I know what I’m doing. Practice makes perfect I suppose.

mg5- I cover up in public just because there are so many pervs other wise i wouldnt because my lo hates being covered i dont blame her would u want a blanket on ur head when eating, but i think its perfectly fine to not ware a cover if thats what your comfortable with i dont cover up around friends ect…its pisses me off when people make comments about bf in public, because either they 1. dont have kids, or 2. never bf before. like you said would you rather hear a screaming baby . you dont ask her to go eat her food in the car, or bathroom ect. Its natural its how babies were made to eat, and you never know when your baby will be hungry, i always feed my baby before we go somewhere, but sometimes she decides she wants to eat. thats what babies do, you feed on demand when you bf. People make such an issue of bf in public, when you have girls walking around with their boobs and asses hanging out and no one has a problem with that…try and feed your child and holy crap!
