Ellas- I have seen someone and my son’s doctor is also a specialist so I get help from her as well. It has hurt less at times but if I try and just do breast only they are to sore after a day or 2 so I go back to the bottle. I’m going to stick it out as long as I can to see if the results are different from my FF baby. So far my son hasn’t gained enough weight and he eats lot. I don’t seem to have an appetite either so trying to force myself to eat is hard . Is that something that is normal?

expecting-2b-patient – When it’s time to move your baby you’ll know! Last night I had my 2-yr old and 13 week old in bed with my husband and I. Thank God for King size beds! HAHA! As for moving. When I moved Chris it was easy. He’d fall asleep at the breast and I’d just lay him down. If he woke up I just fed him again. I’m all for night feedings as long as baby wants/needs them. I also let him self wean so nursing him to sleep everynight was easy. Eventually he’d still be half a sleep when I laid him down and then around 15 months or so he was wide awake. At 22 months he had no interest in it anymore. We still cuddle in the rocker before bed. We say our prayers and listen to Hawaiian lullabies. When he’s ready I lay him down and say good night. Unless he has a nightmare (not often) he’s in his bed until morning. When Alex is ready for his bed (we’re just not buying bedding and crib) then I’ll move him over. It’s usually when they become too active for any of us to get sleep. Chris was all over the place. We both had enough of getting kicked in the head or stomach. HAHA! Alex is a light sleeper which will probably make it hard. Makes it hard now cause if I have to get up he’s up too. He also snores and moans in his sleep which wakes me up. Oh well.

dolly-if you are achy elsewhere or running a fever, you have mastitis, and it is an emergency and you should call your midwife or ob/gyn on their emergency line. Tell them your symptoms and they’ll call you in an antibiotic. Don’t wait. It will only make you feel worse the longer you let it go. Now if you don’t have a fever, it probably is a clogged duct. Apply a warm compress and try to massage it where it hurts. also nurse on that side and if possible try to point the baby’s chin toward the pain. You can also take a couple of advil or advil equivalent.

ok so yesterday we ran about all day in town and stopped and got a hotdog from the gas station for lunch- holy moly was it spicey! I didnt know it would be, i’ve always been very careful because i know she doesnt like spicey foods, now she wont hardly nurse and last nite was torture becuase of it. i gave her formula thru the night and did a pump n dump this morning…how long before the spicey leaves the milk? and in the future if it happens again what can i do to get the spicey out of the milk without doing a pump n dump … any suggestions???

I wish everyone could stay home atleast the first year of their child life if they choose to breastfeed. That should be a law. I know ppl getting SS for a ‘disability’ that stay home and do jack when they know they could work. (not syaing every1 does this) Just makes me mad to here ladies talking about how much they love breastfeeding and wish they could do it more but have to work. I am so blessed I can stay home.

doublemama and emilees3babes – My baby had all the colicy symtoms too and can you believe her pediatrician told me to give up breastfeeding and gave me 2 large cases of formula to bring home?? I even pleaded with her that I would give up any food necessary ito see if that is the issue, so I could still continue to breastfeed but she still said that’s not going to cut it. I cried right there in her office – I couldn’t believe that was the answer. Anyway, I didn’t listen to her, contacted a few lactation consultants, did my own research and had the support of this site and my daughter was fine after a couple of weeks.

We don’t rinse poop out (the breastfed type poop), we put it on extra rinse. However, as our son got older (like over a year) and ate real food with more normal type poops, we would dump it into the toilet first and then put it in the washer.

u know i was thinking alot about breastfeeding today. im kind of sick of it. i want my body back, and that yucky feeling i get when i have letdowns annoys me. my supply is also a lil lower this week cause of lack of sleep so im gonna have to work on bringing that up. with all of that, u still couldnt pay me a million bucks to put my child on formula. its plain and simple breastmilk is better in so many ways and he deserves that so long as its available and hes doing fine on it. i just dont get where in our culture the truth about breastfeeding has gotten muddy and people thing formula is just as ok and can switch to it so easily. sure its fine to live off of bigmac’s from mcD’s and my body will digest it just fine, but is it really the best thing i could be eating? no of course not. i look at formula the same way. yes its fine, yes its edible, but its not the best and im not sure why thats not clear to our society any more.

styx – I bought ours at Costco. They had them on sell a couple months ago. Last summer I lost a chinchilla to the heat so I was preparing for this year. Costco ones are usually around $600 but they had a $100 instant rebate when I got mine. Not cheap but not as bad as central air. We also have a fan in our house. It pulls the air from the garage which is actually cool. I’ve moved my chins down there until the heat wave is over. This weekend is supposed to be in the 70’s so you should be good!

I’m dreading the day I move James to his big boy bed. He is only 20 months so have a bit of time. But he is so good you just put him in his cot say good night and leave the room. I just know he’ll keep getting up. Have a trial soon we are going away in the caravan and he is going to be sleeping in a kids travel bed. Hope it doesn’t muck up his good sleeping.

i discovered when they are laying down on the doctors table, u can lean over and nurse em while they r laying there. my boy is a champ about shots, they dont phase him to need to nurse him during it, but it might have helped with my daughter who was an emotional wreck about the whole thing lol. its funny how different they are. my son would rather be checking himself out in the mirror or looking at the doc than sit there and nurse through it lol. i just got his iron levels checked because they were low at his 6 month, and when the nurse pricked him he just started smiling at her as if she was tickling him. he kept staring at the blood coming outta his finger like it was the coolest thing ever. hes such a boy lol.

I do like them two years apart. ‘If’ I did two years or two and half meaning that I want a summer baby then Chris will be 4 1/2. He’d be in pre-school so that’d help. I also need a new car! HAHA! I drive a sport track right now. It’s a great car but only fits 5 or rather 2 adults and 2 cars seats. I need a van. We’ve been talking about that. When my husband’s company goes public I’ll probably get a new van. Once that’s done then I think I can have another.
