I had a great nights sleep! My girls will be 16 wks on Thursday already – my how time flies! They went down for the night around 11 and only karissa woke around 4 to eat. She ate SO little, then fell back asleep. I had to pump! (I hardly pump anymore because my body has finally gotten to where I don’t need to) Since she didn’t eat much and Breanne hadn’t ate yet, I only let myself pump for 5 min, just to take some off the top…. in 5 min I pumped out 10 ounces! WOW! Makes me wonder how many ounces the angels are eating at a feeding now!

thanks ladies! i feel like it’s kind of a meant to be thing. sterling’s been in daycare for about 2.5 months now and when i sub i’m w/i about 10-30 of him depending on what school i’m at. the nice thing is that my grandma and my mom are w/i 5 min if somethign drastic happened and i couldn’t get to him immediately. it just happens that this daycare where i’ll be working (migrant head start) is down the block from where sterling goes. it was such a bonus and relief when i asked them about breaks and mentioned trying to nurse him at least 1 time and they were totally on board and understanding. i was almost jumping up and down, lol! tiff-i did the oats this morning and will again tomorrow morning and tomorrow evening (i forgot to set them out before i left this morning) i felt like i was more full already today, but maybe that was just my mind…

What is reglan? I keep trying to get my supply up but nothing helps to the extent that I pump enough during the day for the next day. I have tried fenugreek, more milk plus, and soaked oats. I struggle to pump 2 1/2 – 3 ounces combimed and my little guy is 6 months now. It is upsetting but I am not giving up. This means to much to me. I have a friend who was pumping 3-4 ounces a breast and she just quit because it was to much work.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pump in style.:) We’re going on 7 months old and I still use it daily. It’s really great and I love the battery pack. I have totally pumped while driving. LOL! You do what you gotta do when it comes to making sure your LO has what they need. :o)

no worries angela, i saw you had posted that and i didn’t want to ask the same question. i agree if there’s nothing else going on but only those 2 pumps a day then you’re right that’s not sufficent enough to keep a supply up! i just am assuming that she’s nursing for the other feedings during the day.

dulcianasmom- Sorry late to the game. Kekoa is 17months and I got my period back when he was 9months. I use condems, no pill for me. I got pregnant on the pill plus it lowers supply. The mini pill has worked for some but from what I’ve read it can still lower your supply and because it is estrogen only you still have a risk of getting pregnant. If you don’t want anymore for a while the an IUD might work. My sister had one put in and loves it. You have to have it checked a month after being inserted but no hassle. After I’m done with kids I will think about it. Since I am sort of trying for the next one then we have stopped using condems.

Ok, question. I know as babies get older they can get milk faster and they don’t need as long to nurse. RJ is now 8 months old, when he nurses I am lucky to get him to nurse for 2-3 minutes a side. Does that sound right? He is even trying to figure out how to sit and nurse. He doesn’t like to be laying down anymore. (Looks like another struggle to get through.) Anyone else have this?

bluey- your lo should NOT be dropping feedings or feeding less when you start solids. bm or formula is what babies need most and where they get all the needed nutrition from. Let you lo nurse first and then do solids after. maybe try feeding your lo more often so they will eat less and maybe have less come back up. sorry if i am not all that much help.

duskpoo, I think it’s pretty bad that your husband is your motivation for losing weight – he should love you unconditionally – your body is amazing for having given birth to your beautiful baby: be kind to it! You might find it easier, if you lose weight because YOU want to! Personally, I’m really uncomfortable carrying extra weight, and on a very basic day-to-day level, I’d rather be hungry than fat, so it’s easy to resist tempting foods. But that’s not really the case, if you’re trying to lose wight for him. Sorry sweetheart – it seems very unfair to me!

kym, if the Reglan is affecting your mood, you need to get off it. Talk through it with your doctor. You should be able to continue breastfeeding; but realistically even if you end up supplementing or using formula, it’s better than suffering depression, sweetheart. You need to be enjoying your baby, however you feed!

last.one-I returnd to work three weeks ago and am also using a double electric hospital grade pump…which is awesome! When I returned to work I started taking Mother’s Milk tea-just one big cup every day. It seems to be enough to counter-act any supply issues I was expecting from being away from her and pumping. I get enough if I pump once throughout my shift (about 8 ounces) then either at night after she’s gone down or in the morning before I head to work. So far it’s been working great! She also nurses like mad for the entire evening after I’m home. And with the tea, I brew up a big pot once a week and just keep it the fridge. Tastes much better iced-especially since it’s hot out!!!

brie – I’ve let my son self wean and it’s been awesome. He is totally happy with the situation. He’s almost 21months and almost completely weaned now. He sleeps very well and there hasn’t been any struggles. I think it’s the most natural thing to do.

kottonkurlz – There was this huge report/investigation out about how Babies R Us has been manipulating companies like Medella. Unfortunately, unless you buy used (which I don’t recommend and actually I don’t think is exactly legal) you won’t find a medella for less then the retail price. Basically, Babies R Us has been telling companies that if they find anyone , even online, selling their products for less then they would pull all merchandise off shelves and stop all orders. Since Babies R Us selling over 50% of these products the companies are scared to do just that. You won’t find coupons.natesmomma – The fermentation process changes the composition of the oats. Only use old fashion oats, not quick oats and definately let it soak for at least 7hours. I don’t know why it works but it does. I’ve only heard of a few that it hadn’t. It was awesome and I recommend it for anyone wanting to boost supply.

Okay ladies I need some advise!! So my son nurses about every 2 1/2 hours. He is just over 3 weeks old. I’m going to start adding in one pumping session in the AM cause I heard that your milk supply is highest in the AM. My concern is the way that I nurse him is a little different than the way that most people do. I nurse him from only one breast every time he eats. He drains my breast every time he eats and it completely satisfys him. SO my question is what would you do if you were me with the morning pumping, do I feed him off the one side then pump both breasts or do I just pump the breast he didn’t eat on? Or do I just pump the breast that he ate on so it doesn’t throw off his next feeding? I’m so confused with what to do!!!
