I also listened to the Fenugreek’s bottle’s instruction at first and didn’t notice anything, but my LC told me that most women need more to notice an increase in milk production. It can also take up to 72 hours to see a difference. Once I increased to three pills three times a day I could actually pinpoint the exact moment when I felt the increase! Like Bri said, your sweat and urine should smell like maple syrup…if not, you’re not getting enough. Both my pediatrician and LC said it was fine to take up to 16 pills per day, but to start small and increase the dosage every few days until you get the maple odor..I personally take between 9 & 12 per day. I get about 1/2 ounce extra each pumping and since I’m pumping 6 + times per day I figure that is one meal’s worth of extra milk for my daughter, so it is worth it! Also, the liquid Fenugreek is apparently more potent, but also more expensive and tastes awful, so I stick with the pills.

rachelsbaby- your body will regulate. BF works by supply and demand, so if there is no demand at a certain time, your body won’t make so much extra! =]

I’ve noticed whenever I eat something spicy I have a tiny let down sensation – even writing about it makes them tingle! Weird!!! It’s like when you think about eating a lemon you get that strange salivating feeling in your mouth! Anyone else or am I just odd!!?

I don’t know. I’ll check with her on FB and ask. She’s taking it hard and I know I would be too. I’ll let her know people are asking about her.

Lawson-yes Earthfare is amazing. Go to there website and sign up for there newsletter. You’ll get a weekly e-mail for a coupon for something. Also mine here in Knoxville used to have cooking classes. They’re pretty good here. I got a couple of old faithful recipes from those classes.

I’d take another baby right now too! My husband says waitill she’s at least 1 so the focus stays on her. Totally reasonable and acceptable. I do too secretly wish to accidentally get pregnant again while breastfeeding. My baby doesn’t nurse through the night but I still don’t have my menstrual back yet anyway so it’s not gonna happen but I’d be very happy if it did.

Also… as far as WHERE to pump, my employer actually provides us with a nursing room which has seperate stalls with recliners/sofas and little tables. I love that they have this. The place even has a little fridge for storage if needed and a sink for clean up, etc.. Depending on where you are, state laws might mandate that your employer make accomodations for you to have the time and place to pump. I didn’t know this little area here existed until I asked so talk to your employer and see what they have to offer.

Ahh I miss the early days. Alex will be 7 months in a couple more days. How sad! He’s standing and moving around so much. I miss a baby that you can just cuddle all day. That didn’t care that he couldn’t see what was going on. HAHA! I miss having a 10lb baby rather then a 24lb almost toddler! I also don’t find it annoying that they’re nursing all the time. Maybe cause this is the second one. I’m more confident this time around and loved using it as an excuse to just get away. HAHA!

nic4charles – it really depends on your LO. At 3 months Alyssa was eating every 3 hours. Feeding too often could lead to having a ‘snacker’ and as bess said, never filling your babies tummy w/ a full meal. You can try extending your 2 hour spans by incriments of 15 minutes to see how your LO does. If they do ok, then you can increase again by 15 minutes the next day and so on and so on until they reach the 3 hour mark. Keep in mind that they don’t always make it to 3 hours and sometimes can go a bit longer as well. I say try to go longer but listen to your intuition as well. You know your LO better than anyone else!

ok I have some questions for seasoned breast feeders! It has been 11 years since I have had an infant and this one is so different!! My son is a week old today. for the first time since his birth my breast are not hard. Does this mean I am drying up? Or my breast are becoming relaxed and used to breast feeding?

I use the Lansinoh bags because I can get 10oz in one bag. We use 10oz a day when I am at work, so it ends up being the perfect amount/solution for us.
