I haven’t used the playtex but I’ve done extensive research on pumps and I would say that you’ll probably yield about the same as your evenflo. That being said, it may take a while to completely pump. I loved my Ameda, and the Lansinoh is basically the same pump with a different name. Consider that one! I just upgraded to a Pump in Style and it’s a lot quicker than my Ameda, but I don’t see much volume difference. I did between my Avent and my Ameda. Like I said. Extensive research. lol. My sister is pregnant and gives me a hard time about my library of pumps. lol

i’ve been quite lucky nobody has ever said anything to me when i have been feeding in public. I’m always discreet but will do it where ever i am. With common sense though, i was at an assembly at my sons school so i went and fed in the reception rather than in the hall with all the children. I think thats the only time i have moved from where i am to feed. I do like using the feeding facilities in a local department store they have a special area for breastfeeding away from the bottle feeding area. They have really comfortable seats and free drinking water.

On the subject of formula companies…it bothers me that most of the child’s vitamins are also produced by the formula companies. The American Pediatrics Society (or whatever they are called) reccomend now that EBF children need 400 iu of Vitiman D per day since it isn’t passed through breast milk and they are seeing an increase in ricketts….to get the proper dosage of Vit D you either need to order Vit D in drop form online (since it is hard to find in the stores), or use the multivitiman (which contains a bunch of vitimans you don’t need, but has the Vit. D) produced by the formula companies. Most mom’s just buy the formula brand stuff since it is easier to find…thus supporting the formula companies.

Hey everyone! I haven’t been posting here alot lately but I was a regular during my last pregnancy and now my son is 11 months old and still breastfeeding. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant again and was wondering if it is ok to still nurse my 11 month old. Thanks.

Hope I didn’t offend any pre-fold users, they just didn’t workfor us, I prefer pockets and AIO…

Jenn~ Motherhood maternity has cheap nursing tops, for BC you want progesterone only no estrogen, so the mirena, implannon, paragard (no hormones at all), and the mini pill. Obviously condoms and diaphram are also hormone free and good choices. I am probably going with the paragard, just need to discuss it with my doc at my 6 week. I am so tempted to say whatever, we will just use condoms but then I think thatwe definately want to wait at least 2 years this time before we start trying again, we want my daughter to be in kindergarden before having another… Child care for 3 children is justso expensive, heck it is going to be expensive with 2 kids, and if I am going to get out of the military at the end of this enlistment our financial situation is going to change drastically even w/o childcare costs. LOL this is why we need a couple years, we need to be sure of where things are headed career wise, education wise, finance wise before we add another!

I’ll look into the sns. it was my next option.
I’m going to go back and forth between me and a cold bottle and see what happens.
Im still pumping afterwards to keep supply as long as possible. its enough for now(hes 6 wks) but I was pulling out more before

I have tried pumping and then latching. I’ll try again. ….I’m ok w/ pumping until the cows come home but loosing supply has me upset. because hes so tiny anf fragile I want him on breastmilk that much more. hes 8 lbs at 6 weeks. was born at 6.13 lbs so thats not a ton

Aarg! Our house just fell through! We have been trying to get this dang house over into our name for the past four years and something ALWAYS happens! We were supposed to close today, or early next week. We were just waiting on the appraisal, which was going to be a shoe-in since this was the fourth one we have had. They were all done by different companies, but the first three all came back in the 130-140 range. This last one, done not even a year later than the last came back at 105. We even put a half bath in downstairs between the last appraisal and this one! The bank wont do the loan for us now unless we come up with the difference between the 105 of the house and the 130 we were asking for. SO FRUSTRATED!!! This was going to be our big ‘break’ since the payment on the house under the owner’s name is at 1250 right now and the payment was going to go down to 889! PLUS we WOULD have qualified for the tax incentive for the full 8000! I don’t even have words for the emotions I have going right now! I was so looking forward to being able to buy groceries and not having to worry about how I was going to feed/clothes these boys!

nic4charles – my DD also used to eat what seemed to be all day but then slept well at night (8 hours straight). I liked it because I knew she was getting her fill during the day and that’s what helped her sleep so well at night. If your son is sleeping well and you’re happy with that, I would leave well enough alone, personally. If you need to explain anything, it’s that your LO is stuffing himself during the day so he can get a good sleep. Otherwise, ignore the criticism 🙂

bennbubby- Both the WHO and AAP say that breastmilk is all they need for the first six months…period! Alex was 20lbs at 4 months as well. His brother was huge too but he’s now on the smaller side. Breastmilk only actually reduces his risk for diabetes. They’ve shown that moms that give food before six months raise the risk. You mom is being silly and thinking of what she was told back in her day and what she assumes. Most big babies will lean out once they start walking. I know mine did. Alex is still huge at 24lbs at 7 months but his back is taunt. He’s just a strong boy now. He’s up and cruising so I’m sure the fat will start to being replaced by muscles…..now only if I could do that to myself?
