You can take all meds that you could take when pregnant. I know Sudafed is one of the ones that is okay. Just know that when you take meds it will sometimes cause a dip in your supply. I always try to counteract this by drinking lots of extra water.

2ndtimemommmy …you would probably do better with an electric pump. Specifically, a double pump better stimulates a let-down because it stimulates both breasts at the same time. Medela ‘pump in style’ is the best double pump I’ve ever found for the money. Check craigslist or ebay. I’ve seen pre-owned pumps on there before. As long as you buy new tubing aznd parts (not very expensive) you don’t have to worry about the pump being ‘used’ because it’s just a motor anyway. The tubing and parts are what need to be clean and sterilized. 🙂

It looks like everyone’s baby hates the bottle but mine…mine LOVES it!! Usually all day long I only nurse her but right before bed I will give her a bottle of formula or breastmilk and she acts like she is in heaven when she is drinking from it. Awww, I wish my baby only wanted me…but i guess she won’t be a baby forever!~

emmalouliz – I got pregnant with my second while breastfeeding but he was already 17 months and my period had come back. There is a TTC while breastfeeding page here ss well.

mypride: I’d say slowly wean the night feed if you can, then she’ll probably stay in her crib better. The way I weaned nighttime feeds was this: I usually fed her for about 15 minutes in the night, so the next time I did it for about 12, then 9, then 6, then 5, then to just soothing and rocking her in the chair, then to soothing her in her crib and that worked pretty well for us. Good luck, just find what works for you both 🙂

I can’t stop smiling. I wasn’t prepared with a bottle when he got hungry so I figured it was a good time to really try to BF again. So, we tried and he took the left one for just a teeny while before fussing. After he fussed, I tried on the right side. He wasn’t having that. So I used the shield I took home from the hospital and he nursed for 9 minutes!! Without dozing off once! He just kept on eating 🙂 I was soo happy!! Hopefully we can keep this up! And hopefully we can do it soon without the shield! Also, on a TMI note, I leak like crazy 🙁 🙁 My shirt and pants were just DRENCHED. So I finally remembered to put pads in my bra. I need to look into getting those ones that save the milk because I feel like I waste so much leaking!!

the only time I could think of is if you had to have medicine that you could not nurse with or a procedure. but before i’d ever make that decision i’d check with my lc for other options.

makes me realise how lucky we are in the uk, think i need to stop complaining i only get basic maternity pay. Men are also given 2 weeks paternity pay at around Â122.50 a week. We couldn’t afford my hubby to get just that for 2 weeks so he has taken 2 weeks holiday.

Isaac’s been doing this 5 or 6 o’clock evening nap. It’s screwing up our night time bad. I just don’t have the heart to wake him from the nap or make him stay up though. He gets these red rimmed eyes and begs for boob. How am I suppose to say no?

styx~ I would recomend buying 2 or 3 at a time, the up front cost of CDing is intimidating, but the long term savings are great! And we use cloth wipes too, I make my own solution, so thats another big cost saver.

jeni- i don’t really have suggestions, because i know i will be going through the same thing shortly when Ella turns a year old on the 29th. But at least mine will be from my sister, not my husband. But i’m so sorry about that. I think it’s great that you are letting her go until she weans herself. There is no harm in it. There is support here, if nowhere else. But i know it doesn’t help too much in your personal life.

I tried for a VBAC. I was 17 months PP when I got pregnant. My doctor was fine with it. But, after being 2 weeks late knowing Alex was big it was time to throw in the towel. For a VBAC you want to go all natural. Pit and other artificial hormones will increase your risk of rupture so for me that meant no inductions. My body just didn’t go into labor.
