I would love any advice on how to get my 3 yr old daughter to poop in the potty. She wears big girl underwear all day and even at night and has never had an accident. But she won’t poop in the potty. She goes and gets a pull-up and changes herself into it, poops in the pullup and then asks us to change her. We’ve tried everything!! It’s so frustrating because she knows what to do…

Silly – for my son, i started when he was about 2. I started by just asking him if he needed to go potty and placing him on his potty when he woke up in the AM, before and after nap and just before bed. He would go most times but not always. After a while he was doing great and then i gave birth to my second son. Then he went back to using his diaper or pull up. He regressed a lot. At age 3 (b/c with the new baby, i was to tired to fight him) i finally just took away his diaper and pull ups. and made him use the potty. He had 3 accidents before he was fully trained. He still has the sometime accident but that is b/c he gets to caught up in playing and usually just can’t get his pants down in time. Oh and he is now 3 and half. Once they are ready (and you will know when that it is) it is really easy to do. I found when you try to force it early, it is a much harder undertaking.

He is 21 months and he knows when he goes! When I put him on the pot and he goes he’ll get up and say I pee pee and pull his pants up! But when he has on a daiper or pull up he wont say anything I’ll ask him and he just looks at me or runs away lol Sometimes I feel like Im pressuring him, but I know he can do this! And with a second baby coming I dont want to change diapers for two/! Nor do I want to buy them! I know he cant talk that well but he speaks well enough to say pee pee and boo boo! So I figured thats good enough

Then good luck! My son was doing all that, would know when he needs to go but not soon enough to get to the potty in time! I am jealous that you will not have to change 2 diapers, hopefully he won’t regress on you!

Another problem we’ve run into while trying to potty train our son is that he likes to sit on the potty but only for short amounts of time. He will only sit on it for a minute or so and then wants to get off. I’ve tried bringing toys in the bathroom, reading him his potty book etc.

Give him Lots to drink and set a timer and take him every 30 minutes. When he does go reward him and give him lots of praise. I keep a mason jar of skittles on the back of our toilet as incentive. It has worked with all of my 5. Best of luck!

My son is 22 months. He sits on the potyy but he never actually goes while on it. How can I get him to go? What is the best way to train him? I’m so lost when it comes to potty training! Any help/advice/suggestions would be great! Thank you!

My son is only 10 months old…on Thursday I sat him on the toilet for the first time, within 1 minute he pooped. He did this again yesterday and today…he has been showing signs for a little over a week, but with him being only 10 months old and my first, I didn’t realize that is what he was doing. I’m wondering if this is too early or what. I am worried that he is moving too fast!!! I feel like I should go with it and not ignore what he is trying to tell me, but at the same time I don’t think I am ready!! Any advice? Anyone else deal with this?

My little girl is 3 years old and will not use the potty, she will scream and scream the whole time you make her sit on it. I am going nuts because I have a almost 1 year old and then I am expecting again and i would really like my 3 year old out of pull ups before the new baby gets here in Aug-Sept. I don’t know what to do. She is showing all the signs, she tells me when she is wet and stinky and she is always following me to the bathroom, she flushes the big toilet for me sometimes and so on. Any ideas?
