HI all. Last week at my 22 week scan my dr diagnosed SUA. Today I went in to see a specialist obstetrician who scanned the baby from top to toe, and pronounced all anatomy perfect. Was feeling quite stressed – literally felt the weight off my shoulders after appointment. So nice to see so many positive people here, thanks for all the advice and stories.

I was pregnant with twins, and I delivered two beautiful baby boys last July. One of my sons was diagnosed with a SUA at our 14wk scan. We held on to the hope that he would be alright, that he would not have any of the abnormalities that were possible with a SUA. I declined amnio and put my trust in God that he had a plan for us. Sadly, my sweet baby was born not breathing, and the doctors were able to ventilate him. It was then that we discovered he had Trisomy 13. I will never understand why this had to happen to my sweet baby, but God knew that his little soul would need a family here on earth that would surround him with love, and that is just we did. He lived for 3 weeks, and I am grateful for the time that God gave us together. It is so nice to see that there are other Moms on here who have had a good outcome with a SUA. I am so relieved for you and for your babies. My child was a beautiful baby, he will be missed by our family, his twin, and I only wish that his little body had been strong enough to keep his beautiful spirit with us a little longer. He was amazing, a gift from above, and he was my precious child.

Hi Ladies, I am very confused and need some advice. I had an US done when I was 28 1/2 weeks and was told that my little girl was diagnosed with SUA. The US tech said that she weighed small and because of that, they extended my due date 2 1/2 weeks later then origanily scheduled. Now I no for SURE that the first day of my last peroid was April 24th-30th, which would put my due date at Jan 29th. now it’s moved to Feb 17th. I just don’t understand. could I have ovulated 28 days after my peroid? I don’t see how thats possible! I’m guessing that my baby is a little smaller due to the SUA, but I don’t see how that changes my due date back THAT far. Has anyone else had a healthy baby or know anyone who has had a healthy baby that was 2 1/2 weeks behind in size, or was told that their due date was extended because of the size? Any advice would be great. I’ve already scared the crap out of my self by trying to find out more info on the internet. Everything i find makes me worry and stress even more. Please Help!

    Hi Ladies
I was diagnosed with SUA at my 20 week ultrasound. I was not told about it until I went for a check-up at 24 weeks….and at the end of the appt…I asked if everything was OK….my obgyn said everything looked great and then told me about SUA…she said not to worry because my blood tests where fine and the ultrasound showed no abnormalities…I left her office in a great frame of mind…until I googled it….I cried for a few days….When I went back to see her..she told me not to read the internet….the web gives worst case senerios…..I am having another unltrasound tomorrow morning…I’m currently 32 weeks…..I’m really nervous and I’m praying my little girl is growing normally and they won’t find any other problems…will keep you updated…wish me luck.

Hi ladies my due date is tomorrow, but bubba is showing no signs of arriving anytime soon, midwife is guessing he’ll be around 7 and a half pounds but I’m so scared he’ll be bigger than that. I’ll keep you posted. All those with sua babies don’t panic about what you read on the internet its only a rare few that complications will happen to and that will more than likely get picked up on your abnormalitiy scan at 20 weeks. Good luck and I’ll keep you posted. xx

dore, i only ever felt my baby either at the bottom (earlier on) and then always up high closer to the end. i think as long as your feeling something then theres nothing to worry about.
pr3gojenn, im really glad to hear that everything is okay and im sure it will be!
i just had our 6 week check up, even though shes 7.5 weeks already!! she is almost 10lbs, has averaged out nicely from her large size at birth, confired their were no kidney problems from the US on halloween and everything is going great over here. she is smiling now, and just LAUGHED for the first time today!!!! at her Elmo Live doll she got for xmas, that we obviously opened early haha.

Courtenay , so cute she laughed for the first time at Elmo and thank you for your input ! Had an ultra sound today …and miracle of miracles Eliana is head down. Super SUPER low :0) So happy. Her head is still small but in the normal range. Her back is to the right ; that’s why I hardly feel her there. Thanks again for making me feel better!

its always reassuring when you know for sure everything is okay! we got our first christmas pictures taken the other day and Journey actually SMILED for the camera’s I am so excited about that. I mean she smiles, but to actually get it on film, i have been trying for awhile. how is everyone doing here? Journey also has some ‘stork bites’ on the back of her head but the doctor said they should go away over time..

Hi, I’m new to the site. I just had my 18 week anatomy ultrasound yesterday. We’re having a girl. Six weeks ago, I had a nucal translucency test and a series of blood work that came back great. My risk for Down’s was 1 in 6500 and the other numbers were even better than that. Now yesterday, the perinatologist told me that they discovered only a single umbilical artery on the scan and slightly enlarged kidneys. Other than that she looked great. She weighs 12 oz. already. They were concerned enough to order an amnio tomorrow and I am scared to death, not of the amnio, but everything I’ve read says that between 20-33% of babies with this condition can have one or more birth defects or problems, growth problems or even premature birth. I am absolutely terrified. I am forty and this is my first baby. Is anyone else out there going through this? Everyone is telling me things will be fine. Am I crazy to be so worried. I can’t help it. I love my daughter more than life. I feel like crying all the time and it will be 10-14 days before the amnio results come back. How do I cope with the waiting? Any suggestions.

well i took journey to the ER the other night because she had blood in her poo, it was really scary but she is okay i guess she has an anal fissure which is common in babies and nothing to do with the SUA. it should heal on its own but i feel so much better knowing its nothing serious, i was so scared i was in tears when i saw blood in her diaper even though she was laughing and smiling away in the hospital, its not causing her any pain which is good but it broke my heart to hear her cry when they took blood from her. were off to my works xmas patry tonight so have ag reat day ladies!

Glad to hear it’s nothing serious Courtenay….My 32 week u/s was fine….she is in the 57% and they said her growth is fine…I have another u/s at 36 weeks (I’m 35 tomorrow)….I will keep you updated…her movements were really slow ,and few and far between today…sometimes that worries me….but then she gets a little crazy on some other days…I have to remind myself not to worry!!!!
