@Mercedesalosis I think I read that a lot of older women get shorter cycles as time goes on so they do often ovulate earIy. I wish I knew more about that but I wish you the best in your journey of ttc. It’s always exciting and encouraging to hear of us older women having successful pregnancies.

Wow…OPK says the time is right…CD 18. I guess tonight is the night to try to give my little man a sibling to grow with…close in age. Wish me luck!

I’ve been busy for a few days. Got the exchange student and just love her! Two little ones have been sick with a virus and rash. Af came on CD 31. Just when I was starting to be tempted into testing again, in case the neg was too early. Oh well, such it is. My latest thing is that I started a diet yesterday. My dad (who is very small and nobody would think he needed to lose any) told me he lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks on the Fast Diet. Fast 2 days a week and eat normally for 5 days. I jumped on the scale and I have gained weight. I am wayyy bigger than I thought i was. I am nearly 160 lbs at only 5 ft tall. I need to lose 40 lbs. I have never been so huge (except pregnant). I had my DD take some before pics of me in my swimsuit. I was appalled by how bad I looked! I am determined! I almost hope I don’t conceive until I lose at least 35 lbs. It may be the hindrance I’m experiencing with irregular cycles and lack of conception. Other good news: my DH is switching to day shift in another week! I am so happy that we will have the same sleep schedule! And last, but certainly not least, thanks for the prayers! All of you! I am so glad to be sharing this journey with fellow believers! Amen! God is good!

7thbaby- that’s pretty neat and could be done as a supplemental income for myself if I could get my head on straight. The geneticist is the specialist I will need to see to have the cvs test. I did this with my last little guy as well. My regular OB does not do these tests and I have to go to another part of the state to have this done.

LOVIN-congrats! With my son….I was 38yo. After the NT and blood work….I got a 1/44!!!!! We were keeping him no matter what….but we did go ahead and get a special DNA blood test to confirm so we could be prepared. HE WAS COMPLETELY HEALTHY!!!!! I do not believe in these tests anymore and with a 1/400, I think you have NOTHING to worry about. We did not do amnio for risk of loss of pregnancy. Not worth it IMO. Now I’m 40 and I’m just going to have the basic bloods and NT measurement done.

LILPIGS-Last night I had heart palpitations too! Laying on my left side as well. Felt like a galloping horse in my chest…a very fast horse. I had them with my last pregnancy too and reported them to the DR. He said it is normal as our bodies have 30-50% more blood circulating (knew this already) but still…it’s scary and I was afraid of heart attack! I don’t remember it happening at all in the first trimester before…only the 2nd and 3rd so that’s what it weird for me!

autumn…it is scary to have so little control over these things. I am also a member of a group…nuchal translucency support group since at the beginning of my current pregnancy my baby girls NT was 4.3 and initial prognosis was dismal due to my age. Since then I had CVS, an anatomy scan and an echocardiogram which came back normal. Have faith that this still can be okay, although I know how hard it can be while waiting.

Gretch~wow, more power to you 🙂 I can’t imagine having a baby at 46. I can tell a difference just being 33 this time around. I was early 20’s with my first two.

Thanks Michelle – got the initial blood results back and my dr told me they seemed to be fine, the nurse made me nervous cause she suggested I get the 16 week blood test.

I am going on Wed to talk to the doc more about the results, but he told me my age is my age, can’t take those numbers away.

Hello to all. I am fairly new here and would like to get to know everyone and make some friends while on my ‘journey’ to pregnancy. I am 38 and DH is 34. I have two children from a previous marriage (17 & 20). DH doesn’t have any of his own. I am having a tubal reversal on the 27th of this month. We are so excited to start trying! I am really wondering about finding an OBGYN who is supportive of my situation. Has this been a problem for any of you?? I don’t wanted to be treated like a mutant because of my age!
