Has anyone had a similar experience? I’ve had numerous (frequently ruptured and requiring surgery) ovarian cysts over 10 years, as well as elevated testosterone, hair loss and hair growth in the wrong places(!), yet no doc has gone as far as to give me PCOS diagnosis. I always feared trouble TTC, yet I had an easy pregnancy in 2008. Since then I’ve had 2 miscarriages, one at 5 weeks and one at 11. New doc is considering Metformin. Can anyone else recommend anything I can do preventively while TTC, basically, to proceed as if I have PCOS, just in case? Thank you all so much.

Hi All. I’m back after a very long break from the site. I don’t want to write an essay, so check out my page for a little insight into my story. After a long emotional rollercoaster, i am now trying to conceive again. I was trying the latter part of last year until January when i had a chemical pregnancy. i took a 2 month break and tried again.Only to have the same thing happen in July. I was an emotional wreck. My gp reffered me to the hospital. When i went i got scanned and saw a Registrar: Who told me all is well and see’s no reason why i cant conceive naturally as i have before. But it took me nearly 2yrs. Anyway, a feww weeks ago i had a follow up appointment. The doc at the hosp told me i had PCOS. It was identified on my last visit as it was in the notes. But the stupid registrar failed to tell me. I did some research and freaked myself out. DH and i are now beginning to try again. I’m so scared as i dont want to keep going through this. I had so many problems and complications when trying to conceive DD. Am i naive in wanting it to just be easy. A big part that plays in PCOS is stress. but how can i not? Has anyone had the condition and learned how to manage it? They say i may release a mature egg every month. or it could be every 3months. i took it upon myself to book a scan to check if i ovulated this month. i’m able to do that as the fertility nurses know me so well, as i spent more time there then at home a few years ago. OMG… It has turned into a essay. Im so sorry everyone. I just needed to vent. My DH, (bless him) listens and tries to reasure me that everything will work out. As much as i appreciate his words of comfort; He’ll never fully get it. * long sigh*. Congrats to all that have got their BFP’s. Babydust to the rest of us xxx

mum2b, some women have no problem conceiving… I conceive on my own but I would m/c so I took metformin to control my insulin resistance.

mum2b2jj – I felt the same way when I found out I had pcos. we were actually trying, and I didnt have a per so i thought i was pregnant, but tests were neg went to the doc found out pcos! great. I took metformin 1000mg, it was about a yr, and I got pregnant! I am now 26 and half weeks, and having a lil girl. For me all i needed was the metformin. The doc told me i could go on clomid, but I had to try for atleast a year first, she said most normal people it takes them 6 months to a yr to get pregnant. So there is hope, theres lots of people that have pcos that are able to conceive, and carry full term babies, everyone is different some it may take longer than others, and sadly for some they cant. My doc did say too, that being on the metformin, and also losing weight,( if you are over weight, which can be very hard with pcos) can be helpful. If you can find a gyn that is a specialize in it too that may be the most helpful for you.

mum and ludi-I have pcos, metformin did nothing for me. I went on natural progesterone, then got regular periods, had a m/c. Then last October got pregnant on 1st round of clomid. I was the heaviest I ever weighed, infact prior to getting pregnant I had gained about 40 lbs. I had my little boy June 16th. It took a total of 10 mths to get pregnant. My 1st trimester I continued to take the progesterone (prometrium). My baby is 3 months now and so far I’ve had 2 regular cycles. I’ve had pcos 10 years and am 33. Zero complications during pregnancy, zero weight gain, perfectly healthy lil man. Praise Jesus!

Hi All. Thank you to those who responding to my comment. I must say i’m still in shock that i have pcos. I had a scan yesterday that confirmed it 100%. The doc who i know quite well told me she’s booking me in for the infertility clinic so she can monnitor me closely. If i’m unsuccessful this month i will continue to have scans througout my cycle to monitor growth of follicles and ovulation. I do feel alot more positive. I’m losing weight, although people are shocked that im not in my required BMI. My doc told me once i’m within it to try and keep it balanced. I think i have alot of medical experts confused as i am not all physically overweight. but the scales tell otherwise.*shrug shoulders*. DH is not all thrilled about me losing weight but knows it’s for my health & to help us get our bundle. Babydust to all x

hi ladies, i was just looking for some advice. i was told 2 months ago that i have PCOS. I don’t see a specialist until mid next month. Now about 5-7 days ago I ovulated (had the ovulation pain from my left ovary) then after 24-48 hrs the pain stopped, but then 2 days ago i started getting dull aching pain across my entire uteran area which radiated around my entire lower back. I have been constantly aching since then and i have also been feeling a bit sickly with it. I was just wondering if anyone with PCOS has experienced this? i’m not sure if this is common or not and whether i should go back to my dr?

Katie, it sounds like the kind of pain that can accompany an enlarged ovarian cyst, which usually worsens after ovulation up to AF. Even though they can get quite large and painful, usually nothing is done about them unless they rupture. They can be confirmed by ultrasound. If the pain is significant, get it checked out.

    Dear ladies,
oh what a long few days i have had, had big fight with mum, told her i wanted to kill myself and now my doc has put me back on anti depressants. so i feel my life is over. Feel like crap and there goes my weight loss. Hate myself for doing this to me and hate god for making me ill. i just cant see the good side of having PCO and i guess its playing on my mind more then i thought.

Hey ladies. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2006 after TTC. I was heart broken. A few months later I started a clomid cycle and tried it for about 5 months and was so frustrated that I stopped taking it. We have ttc for 4.5 years and in July we decided to try the clomid again. this time I had been taking metformin for about 8 months and took the first cycle of clomid in July and finally got the phone call saying I had ovulated. A week later I took the test and got a BFP! I honestly believe the metformin had something to do with it. I am now 10 weeks with a healthy growing baby and couldn’t be any happier.
